Bagley Teacher
Is 'Best of Month'
Honored last week by the De-
troit Education Association and
the Detroit Historical Society
for her selection as "teacher
of the month" by the Detroit
Education Association is Fan
Bunin, a sixth grade teacher at
the Bagley School.
The first Jewish teacher to
receive this honor, Miss Bunin
has been teaching at Bagley for
the past 14 years, during which
time she has brought warmth
and understanding to her young
pupils.
A native Detroiter, Miss
Bunin graduated from Northern
High School, received her teach-
er's certificate from Detroit
Teachers College and later
earned her B.S. degree at Wayne
State University.
She is active in PTA activi-
ties, having served with the traf-
fic safety committee and the
PTA newsletter publishing com-
mittee. She is affiliated with
the Detroit, Michigan and Na-
tional Education Associations,
and is a member of the Metro-
politan Detroit Reading Confer-
ence.
Miss Bunin helped to develop
the chapter on reading in a
forthcoming new course of study
for language arts in the Detroit
Elementary Schools.
Recognized for her conscien-
tiousness, loyalty and devotion
to her work, Miss Bunin also is
active in the community as a
