I. Goodman Feted Fete Jacob frindurs
on 70th Birthday oil. 50th Aithiversag
Isidore Goodman, of 19346
Freeland, was feted by scores of
relatives and friends Sunday on
his 70th birthday.
On Sept. 1, the children of
Mr. and Mrs. Goodman honored
them with a surprise party on
their 44th wedding anniversary.
The double honors that came
within a few days of each other
were accompanied by tree-
planting in Jewish National
Fund Israeli forests in the
Goodmans' honor and in other
charitable gifts.
Mr. Goodman was born in
Courland, Russia, Sept. 5, 1888,
and came to Detroit in 1913. He
was engaged in the general
merchandising business until
his retirement last year.
On Sept. 1, 1914, he was mar-
ried to the former Rachel
Becker,„ two months after her
arrival here from Oslo, Norway.
They have a son, Irving W.;
two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy
Snell of Detroit and Mrs. Helen
Green of San Francisco, and
seven grandchildren.
Mr. Goodman is a member of
the Zionist Organization, a char-
ter member of Temple Israel,
and of Temple Israel Men's
Club; has ion; been active in
Pisgah Lodge of Bnai Brith and
is deeply interested in the Jew-
ish National Fund. He assists
his w if e in her numerous
communal efforts, in behalf of
Hadassah, JNF and other move-
ments.

Mr. and Mrs.
JACOB WINOKUR.
Among the honors accorded
to Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Winokur,
who celebrated their 50th wed-
ding anniversary at a dinner
party last week at Cong. Bnai
David, was an announcement
that a garden of trees will be
planted in their honor in Israel.
The contribution to the Jew-
ish National Fund was one of
many gifts .bestowed to various
philanthropic causes in which
the Winokurs are deeply inter-
ested. Their family and friends
also honored them with contri-
butions to Cong. Bnai David
and Yeshivath Beth Yehudah.
Mr. and Mrs. Winokur, resi-
dents of Detroit for almost as
many years as they have been
married, have been active mem-
bers of the Jewish community,
participating in activities of
Cong. Bnai David, Jewish Na-
tional Fund, Kvutzah Ivrith, Wo-
men's Sabbath League and Sis-
ters of Zion Mizrachi.
They have two children, Mrs.
Isadore Stein and Marvin Wino-
kur, and two grandchildren.
Joining in the tribute to the
Winokurs were Rabbi Hayim Do-
nin and Cantor Hyman J. Adler.
David J. Cohen was toastmaster
for the evening, and Max Sosin
entertained. Dinner arrange-
ments were made by Charles
Shere and Simon Shapiro.
ERLICH - SALOMON. In a
double-ring ceremony performed
Aug. 12, at Rainbow Terrace
by Rabbi David Baylinson, Ju-
dith Ann Salomon, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Bernhardt Salo-
mon, of Oakman Blvd., became
the bride of Sidney Erlich, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Erlich,
of Santa Rosa Dr.
The bride wore a ballerina-
length gown of taffeta offset by
borealis sequins and seed pearls.
It was styled with a fitted bo-
dice over a bouffant skirt. Her
fingertip veil of silk illusion fell
from a scalloped crown of bo-
realis sequins and pearls, and
her white Bible was centered
with two orchids with trailing
ivy.
Mary Lou Dodge, sister of
the bride, was her matron of
honor, and bridesmaids were
Sylvia Erlich, the bridegroom's
sister, and Diane Peritz, of
Fayette, Ala., cousin of the
bride. Robert Kaufman was
asked to serve as best man,
while ushers were Henry Dodge
and Bernard Bellow.
Following a two-week honey-
moon in the East, the couple
is residing' at 15503 Steel.
