Marvin Diskin, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Diskin, of
17141 Ohio, has been discharged from the U.S. Army and will
return home on Aug. 13.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Aptekar, of 19775 Ardmore, have re-
turned from a two-week trip to Miami, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Elkind and their two children, enroute
to San Francisco from New York, stopped over in Detroit to
visit Mrs. Elkind's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Glass, of 13211
N. Norfolk.
Miss Beverly Elaine Last and Miss Marcia Miller have left
for an extended vacation at the Concord hotel in Kiamesha
Lake, N. Y. They plan a visit to New York City.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Levinger will be the guests of their
children, Mesdames Joseph Schwartz, Paul Carpenter, Morris
H. Epstein and Nathan Korby, at a dinner in honor of their
golden wedding anniversary at Sammy's Avalon Room, on Sun-
day. The Levingers, of 3709 Richton, were married in Toledo,
Ohio, in 1908 and now have eight grandchildren and four great-
grandchildren. Mr. Levinger, '75, is retired from the paper busi-
ness. Mrs. Levinger is 70.
Rabbi and Mrs. Mordecai S. Halpern, of Beth Shalom Syna-
gogue, have just returned from an extended visit to California.
Drs. Abraham Block and Eugene Plous, both of Detroit,
will be attending the World Assembly of the Israel Medical
Assoc., in Tel Aviv next week. They are going under the auspices
of the American Physicians' Fellowship.
Among guests at the Bar Mitzvah of Allen Jerome Gold-
smith at Cong. Beth Shmuel on Saturday will be a grandmother,
Mrs. Sara Brewer and great grandmother, Mrs. Bessie Orenstein,
of Miami.
Ronald Moogerman, son of Mrs. Louis Moogerman of 15011
Northfield, has returned home after a tour of duty with the U.S.
Army in Korea and the Middle East.

Roll Campaign Set for Sept. 9

Mobilizing for its 1958 Honor
Roll Campaign, set for a Sept.
9 kickoff, Detroit Hadassah has
announced chairmen for va-
rious solicitation committees.
Preliminary meetings of the
committees will be taking place
from now until the campaign
actually gets under-way next
month.
In announcing the slogan
for this year's campaign, "The
Heart that Feels Becomes the
Hand that Heals," vice-president

sia reached reached The Jewish
News this week from Mr. and
Mrs. Louis Redstone.
They write that "after 12 won-
derful days in Israel" they are
attending the International Con-
ference on City Planning and
Reconstruction in Moscow.
The card speaks of interest-
ing exhibits "including Israel's",
and states: "We are proud of
the U.S. participation, of Amer-
ican city planning and architec-
ture. The General Motors Re-
search Building and Eastland
are among those shown."

Begin Registration
for Fall Bridge Classes

With summer sessions in
bridge ending this month at the
Sholem Aleichem Institute, May-
fair Bridge Club director Louis
J. Cohen, announces that enroll-
ment for .fall classes which will
begin in September is now being
accepted.
The classes will be held any
evening of the week in which
there are enough students inter-
ested to make such classes feas-
ible. As in the summer, classes
will be held at the Sholem Alei-
chem Institute. Because of the
high enrollment during the sum-
mer, Cohen suggests early reg-
istration. For further informa-

Cohen also announces that regu-
lar bridge tournaments will con-
tinue at the Institute at 8 p.m.,
on Wednesdays, with a special
master point tournament at 8:15
p.m., this Saturday.

The FARBAND Labor Zion-
ist Order Award- for 1958 was
presented to the NEW YORK
TIMES at a special ceremony
Aug. 2 at Unser Camp, High-
land Mills, N. Y. The award
was accepted in the name of
the Times by Otto B. Tolischus,
member of the Times' editorial
board and Pulitzer Prize win-
ning foreign correspondent.

Final Week of Park
Band Performances

Summer Parks Band, con-
ducted by Herschel Leib and
featuring baritone William De-
Maria as soloist, will appear at
Clark Park on Monday, Lipke
on Tuesday, O'Shea on Wednes-
