announced. that Doris Kendler
and Larry Brook have been
signed as children's counselors
for the summer season.

Brook has long been assco-
ciated with the Boy Scouts, and
is a former crew leader with
the Silverman Post Explorer
Group. He is accomplished in
swimming, nature study, arts
and crafts, and has planned
many new activities for chil-
dren at Omena this year.
Omena's facilities for chil-
dren include a fully-equipped
playground and handicraft shop,
and there is special instruction
given in dancing and swimming.

and trips to the Traverse City
Zoo and the sand dunes near
Omena.

CINCINNATI (JTA)—Dr. Isi-
dor I. Rabi, Nobel prize winning
atomic scientist, and Irving M.
Engel, president of the Ameri-
can Jewish Committee, were the
recipients of honorary Doctor
of Humane Letters degrees at
the 74th commencement of the
Hebrew Union College-Jewish
Institute of Religion, America's
seminary of Reform Judaism.
Twenty students who com-
pleted studies for the rabbinate
at the College-Institute were
ordained as rabbis. Dr. Nelson
Glueck, president of Hebrew
Union College-Jewish Institute
of Religion and biblical archaeo-
logist, conferred the degrees.
Dr. Rabi, Higgins Professor of
Physics at Columbia University
and holder of the Medal for
Merit, was honored as an "emi-
nent scientist who has worked
to broaden the horizon of man
and to advance civilization."
Engel was saluted as an "un-
flagging champion of the public
good; learned and forceful ex-
ponent of liberal principles of
government."
