HIS EXCELLENCY
District Dentists
Honor Pair
Dr. Aaron Carlstein, and Dr.
Peter M. Bernstein, two of this
city's oldest practicing den-
tists, were presented 50-year
awards by the Detroit District
Dental Society at its meeting
last week.
Installed as president of the
Society was Dr. Samuel S.
Gerendasy, who succeeds Dr.
John Coggan in office.
Dr. Carlstein, of 3111 W.
Chicago, has maintained offices
in Downtown Detroit for all of
the 50 years he has been in
practice. He recalls that when
he opened his office in a two-
story building in the area of
Grand Circus Park, neither the
David Whitney Bldg. nor the
Statler Hotel were built.
Also honored by the society
were Drs. Samuel Silverman
and Harry Decker who were
credited with "outstanding con-
tributions to general dental
activities in the Detroit area."
Applaud Mayors
for Fighting Bias
The general counsel of
the Anti-Defamation League
of Bnai Brith last week
hailed the New York State
Conference of Mayors for
striking a blow against big-
otry by withdrawing its
meeting scheduled for next
month from the Lake Placid
Club.
Officials of the Conference
announced that the June 1-
4 meeting will be held at the
Olympic Stadium in Lake
Placid in answer to protests
against Lake Placid Club's
discriminatory policies.
