Central to Open Miss Judith D ermer's
Centennial With Engagement Told
Pagent May 1, 2

Two performances of an orig-
inal musical revue will be pre-
sented on Thursday and Friday,
May 1 and 2, in the Rackham
Memorial Bldg. to mark the of-
ficial opening of Central High
School's centennial celebration.
The pageant, to be presented
by the Central senior graduat-
ing class—called the Centennial
Graduating Class—has been pro-
duced, directed and written by
William Edwards, Central dra-
matics teacher.
The two evenings of enter-
tainment will sparkle with mu-
sical numbers and dances, and
will be highlighted by the ap-
pearance of an Israeli dance
group. The routines will give
the highlights of Central's first
100 years.
According to Bertha Robin-
son, Central principal, the pag-
eant will be one of several city-
wide celebrations planned by
the school, the oldest public
high school in the Middle West.
A Centennial Banquet is
planned for May 17, at Masonic
Temple. There are still tickets
available for the pageant, which
is open to the public, and to the
banquet, which is being ten-
dered for alumni of the school.
Names of graduates, addresses
and class year may be sent to
the Central High School Cen-
tennial Committee, Central High
School, 2425 Tuxedo, for tickets
to both the pageant and ban-
quet. For information, call the
school office, TO. 8-8307.
Elaine Berman, a 1950 grad-
uate of Central, was named this
week to serve as alumni public-
ity director for the centennial
events.
Miss Berman, who holds a BA
degree from Wayne State Uni-
versity, - has been woman's edi-
tor and director of the WSU ra-
dio station WDET, - and since
graduation in 1955, has been a
free-lance performer on local
radio and television shows, as
well as a model for automobile
manufacturers and builders.
