Into Three Separate Enterprises

Direct JTA Teletype Wire

TEL AVIV.— The plenary
session of the Histadrut execu-
tive approved Tuesday a pro-
pOSal by its secretary general,
Pinchas Lavon, • to split the
Sole' Boneh, its huge construc-
tion cooperative, into three_
separate enterprises.
The decision capped two
weeks Of cross discussion and
debate in the executive and
among Solel Boneh directors.
The . three units will consist
of an autonomous corporation
to handle building activities in
Israel, a company to handle
Solel 'Boneh's industrial corn-
mitements and a company to
handle contracting of various
kinds overseas.

Danny Raskin's

Management of each of the
three units, as well as a co-
ordinating council for them,
will be named by Hevrat Ovdim,
the Histadrut's general holding
company.
Solel Boneh's gross last year
was 140,000,000 Israeli pounds,
excluding the gross receipts of
its industrial corporations
which amounted to another
115,000,000 pounds.
In addition to the Solel
Boneh executives who opposed
the split, the representatives of
the left wing parties on the
Histadrut board — Achdut
Avodah and Mapam — objected
to it. A majority of the Mapam
and Progressives favored the
move.

12th at Hazelwood

In November 1958, six mar-
ried couples got together and
formed the Detroit Mr. and
Mrs. Group of City of Hope
. . . as another arm of the
great National Medical Center
at Duarte, Calif . . . As per
agreement by all, the member-
ship was closed at 12 couples
in 1955, where it still stands
today . . . The Mr. and Mrs.
Group has raised a total of
$14,000 . . . beginning with
its first fund-raising project on
Jan. 17, 1954, when it garnered
a net profit of $12.65 from
refreshments served at a barn
dance given by Duartians, an
other City of Hope clan . . .
In the past four years, the
only membership change has
been that of Pearl and Irving
Tarnopol, founders of the Mr.
and Mrs. Group, who now are
residing in California . . . Joe
Mossok is president, Mrs. Sam
Lipson, vice president, Irving
Weintraub, secretary and Mrs.
Victor Fishkind, treasurer . . .
The group's annual card night
is slated for April 27, at
Knights of Pythias Hall . . .
Larry Schwartz is chairman
of the affair.
RECOGNIZING THE dire
need for a medium whereby
single men and women would
meet socially, a group of 10
founded the organization now
known as Detroit Socialites ...
Their first social affair, an
inaugural dance, held at the
old Mayfair on Dexter, was an
instantaneous success, and the
group was well launched . . .
Their rapid rise in the way
of varied social, philanthropic
and cultural activities has
been well noticed in the com-
munity.
