Leaving Detroit early Thurs-
day morning, seniors will jour-
ney to Washington on the an-
nual senior trip. They will be
gone until April 28. Highlight-
ing the trip will be a moonlight
cruise April 26 on the famed
Potomac River.
Along with the Mumford Par-
ents Club, the senior trip com-
mittee chaired by Sharon .Bez,
Alan Burstein and Norm Mos-
cow is in the midst of making
final arrangements for a suc-
cessful trip. Some of the sights
the seniors will visit include:
The Naval Academy at Annap-
olis, The Smithsonian Institu-
tion and Mount Vernon.
Mumford thespians will have
an opportunity to display their
talents at the forthcoming
school play to be held on May
1 and 2. Trying something new,
the cast is presenting three one-
act plays.
Before v a c a t i o n, teachers
were the guests of the Student
Council. The occasion was the
semi - annual Student - Faculty
Tea.
Receiving gold keys in the
Southeast Michigan Scholastic
Writing Awards Contest were
the following students: Diane
Bauer, Helen Rice, Robert Ros-
man, Linda Reistman, John
Marx, Bettie Schottenfels, Da-
vid Rottenberg, Barry Wolman
and Alan Burstein.
Plans are in the making for
the annual Spring Fling to be
held May 17 at the Ford Audi-
torium. Under the sponsorship
of the Student Council, the
dance is being organized by Gail
Burkow, social committee chair-
man.

At a family dinner recently
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Gerson B. Bernstein, of 19620
Canterbury, announcement was
made of the engagement of
their daughter, Penny Brooke,
to Harold Blumenstein, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Hyman Blumen-
stein, of 19136 Manor.
The bride-to-be, formerly a
student at the University of
Illinois, is now studying at
Wayne State University. Her
fiance is a Wayne graduate.
Plans are being made for a
December wedding.

Michaels, a Detroiter for 40
years, is believed to be the first
national officer of the ACA
from Michigan.

career as a counselor at the De-
troit Recreation Camp, Brighton,
Mich., in 1930,

Nippersink to Add New
$100,000 Auditorium

Nippersink Manor announces
the beginning of construction of
a $100,000 convention hall and
night club on its grounds.
Flexibility of functions as
well as the beauty of the Tudor
architecture will make this mul-
ti-purpose auditorium with a ca-
pacity of 750 persons, both prac-
tical and esthetically pleasing.
In the summer, it will be used
as a night club. During the win-
ter months, indoor activities
such as tennis, badminton, and
volley ball will be carried on.
Conventions and meetings will
occupy the building in the
spring and fall.
Plans are now being made for
the addition of an indoor swim
ming pool.
