Detroit Couple Guests Sulie Harand Here
for Annual Program
of Briscoe in NYC

SetMay 29 Date Yiddish Play

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Walker,
of 20162 Stratford, were guests
this week in New York of Rob-
ert Briscoe, former Lord Mayor
of Dublin, Ireland, and now a
counselor in the Irish Parlia-
ment, and Mrs. Briscoe.
Briscoe, in this country for
the dual purpose of promoting
tourism to Ireland and making
appearances here for the Israel
Bond Drive, has a staunch sup-
porter in Walker.
They met last November,
when the Walkers stopped off
in Ireland on their way home
from a visit in Europe. On an
impulse, Walker called Briscoe,
and related his pleasure at hav-
ing heard him when he was in
Detroit last year for the United
Jewish Appeal.
Briscoe invited Mr. and Mrs.
Walker to spend the day with
him as his guests, and he es-
corted them through Parliament
and showed them around the
city of Dublin.
Since that time, through cor-
respondence, they have become
friends, and, in the Walkers, the
former Lord Mayor has two ad-
vocates of Irish tourism.
