witz and singer Elaine Casden,
a Chapter member. Prizes, in-
cluding one for the best cos-
tume, a Charleston contest and
refreshments also are planned.

MRS. JOEL SCHNEIDER

Renee Adele Goldstein,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben-
jamin Goldstein, of Kentucky
Ave., became the bride of Joel
Michael Schneider, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Louis Schneider, of
Washington, N. J., in a double-
ring ceremony, Dec. 29, at
Temple Israel. Dr. Leon Fram,
Rabbi M. Robert Syme and
Cantor Robert Tulman offi-
ciated.
The bride chose for her wed-
ding a gown of candlelight
ivory silk taffeta, appliqued
with Alencon lace, and high-
lighted with a scoop neckline
and dainty short sleeves of
lace adorned with seed , pearls.
The semi-fitted front skirt with
side and back gathered fullness
ended in a court train. Her
French illusion fingertip veil
was held in place by a shell
cap of Alencon lace and pearls
to match her gown. She carried
white orchids.
Joni Handelman was maid of
honor. Beverly Goldstein, sister
of the bride, and Janet Schnei-
der, sister of the bridegroom,
were bridesmaids.. Howard Le-
vine of Spring Valley, N.Y:, was
the bridegroom's best man.
The newlyweds are spending
their honeymoon in Miami
Beach, Fla. They will return on
Jan. 14 to make their home
on San Juan Dr.

Slate M'laveh Malkeh
at NW Young Israel

A m'laveh malkeh celebrating
the completion of a volume of
the mishnayos by the Chevra
Mishnayos of Young Israel of
Northwest Detroit is planned for
8:30 p.m., Saturday, in the syna-
gogue, announces Rudolph Kar,
president of the congregation.
The Ch e v r a Mishnayos,
formed in 1954 by the late Rev.
Sol Chinitz, has been function-
ing for the study of Torah since
that time. Currently, the classes
are under the direction of Rabbi
Leo Y. Goldman and Rabbi
Isaac Paneth.
Guest speakers will be Rabbi
Leib Bakst, in charge of the
Beth Hamidrash of the Yeshi-
vath Beth Yehudah, and Rabbi
Moses Rothenberg, founder and
director of the Yeshivath Chach-
mey Lublin.
Greetings will be extended by
Rabbis Samuel H. Prero, Yaakov
I. Homnick, and Paneth and a
representative of the Merkaz.
Rabbi Goldman will chair the
gathering.
Dinner will be served. The
public is invited at no charge.
Classes are held daily. between
mincha and maariv and on Sat-
urdays, at 8 a.m. before services.

ZELMAN-COHN, Barbara
Sue Cohn and Morry Zelman
were united in marriage in a
ceremony held Dec. 24 at
Temple Israel. Dr. Leon Fram
officiated. The bride is the
daughter of Mrs. Jack Apple-
baum and the late Mr. Apple-
baum. The bridegroom is the
son of Mrs. Frieda Dorn and
the late Mr. Samuel Zelman.
The couple is residing on Mey-
ers Rd.

ISRAEL CHAPTER will hold
a membership tea at 8:30 p.m.,
Wednesday, in the home of
Mrs. Ralph Karden, 19151 War-
rington. A "Bag and Shoe"
fashion show is planned for
the evening's entertainment.

"The American Synagogue:
Problems and Prospects" is the
subject of Dr. Marvin Fox who
will speak at the monthly open
meeting of the Beth Aaron
Men's Club at 8:30 p.m., Jan.
13, in the-synagogue social hall.
Dr. Fox, widely known speak-
er and writer, is a professor
of philosophy at Ohio State
University and a regular faculty
member of the lino: Brith Insti-
tutes on Judaism.
In his talk, Dr. Fox will
analyze the role of the syna-
gogue in contenmorary Ameri-
can Jewish life. A question and
answer period and a social hour
will follow.
The program is open to the
public at no charge.

board of directors of the Na-

and Jews at its recent annual
meeting in New York.
