ACCRA, Ghana (JTA)—The
first ship of the new Black
Star Line, a joint Ghanian-
Israeli venture, sailed from the,
African port of Takoradi after
a colorful ceremony attended
by Ghanian Prime Minister
Khrumah and members of his
Cabinet and senior government
officials.
The Prime Minister boarded
the vessel, the S.S. Volta River
where he was welcomed by
the captain and officers, most
of whom are Israelis. The
Prime Minister called this an
"historic day for Ghana."
P. H. Doron, top Israeli
planning specialist, left Accra
this week for Israel via Ni-
geria, after having completed
a study of Ghana's water needs
and supply which took him
back and forth across 3,600
miles of the country.
Doron said that Israel would
be able to send technicians to
assist Ghana in a well-digging,
water supply and irrigation
program which it needed. He
recommended the provision of
sanitary drinking water, sup-
plies for cattle and irrigation
for arid areas in a report to
the Government of Ghana.
