Issue Report on Color Research
NEW YORK (JTA) — The
first public report of research
dealing with the effects of color
on the equilibrium of human
beings was made public by Dr.
Kalman J. Mann, director-gen-
eral of the Hadassah Medical
Organization in Israel, in an
address before the executive
committee of Hadassah here.
Dr. Mann, who arrived in the
United States recently to con-
fer with Hadassah leaders, is
also a member of the Commit-
tee of Specialists of the World
Health Organization and of the
DAYENU
National Health Council of Is-
rael. In a special statement on
the effects of color on equilib-
rium, Dr. Mann declared:
"One of our research projects
of great significance deals with
the effects of color on the equi-
librium of human beings. Prof.
Louis Halpern, head of the neu-
rological department of the Ha-
dassah-University Hospital in
Jerusalem, has discovered that
a certain number of patients
suffered from disturbances of
balance as a result of certain
pathological conditions in the
brain.

brief talks delivered by Rabbi
Morris Adler, Hyman Safran,
president of the congregation,
who presided, and Louis Berry,
the congregation's vice-president
who has been named chairman
of the fund-raising drive.
"The better-than-e x p e c t e d
initial response, at this congre-
gational kick-off meeting, gives
us confidence that the necessary
funds will be raised," a member
of the fund-raising committee
said, speaking in behalf of the
building fund group. "We are
confident that at follow-up
meetings similar to the one held
Monday night we'll attain our
goal."
Beth Yehudah to Install
Officers at M'laveh Malkeh
Newly re-elected officers of
Cong. Beth Yehudah will be
installed at a m'laveh malkeh
planned for 8:30 p.m., Saturday,
in the synagogue social hall,
17556 Wyoming.
The program will include
speakers and entertainment,
and a social hour will follow.
All members and their families
are invited to attend.
JERUSALEM (JTA)—A 13-
page Soviet note to Israel call-
ing this state's attention—as a
United Nations member—to the
increased threat of nuclear war
and urging Israel to step up
efforts to strengthen world
peace, was received at the For-
eign Ministry.
The note, handed to Israel's
Embassy in Moscow, is similar
to - scores of such missives sent
to other UN members. Members
of the NATO and Warsaw Pact
g r o up s received differently
worded notes, it is understood.
The Foreign Ministry is study-
ing the note, the text of which
was not made -public here as
yet.
German Orthodox Leader
Dies in Frankfort
FRANKFORT (JTA) — Dr.
Joseph Klibansky, leader of Or-
thodox Jewry in pre-war post-
Hitler Germany and a well
known lawyer in the West Ger-
man Republic, died here sud-
denly. He was 55.
Legal adviser to the Associa-
tion of Jewish communities of
Hesse before 1933, he fled the
country after the rise of the
Nazis, going to Italy and France
before returning to Germany in
1948. He was one of the attor-
neys who defended the late
Philip Auerbach who was
charged with fraud as head of
the Bonn Restitution Office.
Hanukah Dinner-Dance
An annual Hanukah dinner
dance will be sponsored by
Adas Shalom Synagogue at 6:30
p. m., Sunday, according to
George Spoon, congregation
president.
The dance will take place in
the synagogue social hall. Music
will be by Ben Katzman's or-
chestra.
The evening will include
cocktails.
Completing arrangement for
the affair are the following
synagogue officers: Mrs. David
Dunsky, sisterhood chairman;
Max Goldsmith, congregation
chairman; Arthur Schwartz,
young married couples club;
Dan Shapiro, men's club chair-
man; and Louis Haber, congre-
