a special committee to combat

The Wayne State University
Press announced today the elec-
tion of new officers of its board
of advisors, a citizens' group
interested in ,publishing and
disseminating scholarly books
and journals.
Elected were Leonard N.
Simons, president; Ben R. Don-
aldson, vice-president; E. Daw-
son Fisher, vice-president in
charge of financial affairs; and
Harold A. Basilius, director of
the Wayne State University
Press, secretary.
The board of advisors pro-
vides a revolving financial fund
for actual publication of tech-
nical and learned books and
journals. This fund in turn is
matched by the university.
Recent publications of the
University Press include "The

H. Warren Dunham; "Problems

UN to Give Hias
$100,000 to Aid
Egypt's Refugees

NEW YORK, (JTA) — The
U.N. High Commissioner for
Refugees, Dr. Auguste R. Lindt,
announced that his office would
contribute $100,000 toward the
cost of resettling about 1,000
Egyptian Jews in Latin America
through United Hias Service.
Murray I. Gurfein, chairman
of the United Hias executive
committee, at a reception in
honor of Dr. Lindt who is re-
turning to his headquarters in
Geneva, lauded the Latin Amer-
ican governments "which had
absorbed a large share of the
Egyptian refugees in their coun-
tries." He particularly praised
the Brazilian government, rep-
resented -at the reception by
Hon. Augusto Frederico
Schmidt, Ambassador Extraor-
dinary to the United Nations.
The $100,000 will constitute
about 25 percent of the esti-
mated total cost. The rest will
be financed by the United Jew-
ish Appeal Emergency Rescue
Fund, and other funds which
contribute to the migration
agency's program.
