Lindt, announced that his office would contribute $100,000 toward the cost of resettling about 1,000 Egyptian Jews in Latin America through United Hias Service. Murray I. Gurfein, chairman of the United Hias executive committee, at a reception in honor of Dr. Lindt who is re- turning to his headquarters in Geneva, lauded the Latin Amer- ican governments "which had absorbed a large share of the Egyptian refugees in their coun- tries." He particularly praised the Brazilian government, rep- resented -at the reception by Hon. Augusto Frederico Schmidt, Ambassador Extraor- dinary to the United Nations. The $100,000 will constitute about 25 percent of the esti- mated total cost.
