to Chicago Youth

Mr. and Mrs. Samuel N. Goldberg, of Oakman Blvd., have
left for an extended tour of Europe aboard the SS Independence.
After visiting in France, Spain, England and Italy, they will fly
home from London.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Pinkis, of Condon Ave., Oak Park, have
returned home after spending a month's vacation in Miami
Beach, Fla.
A "sweet sixteen" luncheon for family and friends will be
held at Jeri's for Lois Newman, of 13850 Kenwood, Oak Park.
The Misses Joyce and Joanne Weintraub, twin daughters of
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Weintraub, of 19035 Parkside, are currently
enrolled as piano majors at the University of Rochester's East-
man School of Music.

annual Angel Ball of the De-
troit Section, National Council
of Jewish Women, at 9 p.m.,
Nov. 27, in the Sheraton Cadil-
lac ballroom, according to
chairmen Mesdames Jerry
Krandall and Robert Roberts.
Two orchestras will alternate
to provide continuous music
for the formal affair. Five
bars will be set up and supper
will be served at midnight.
A "Surprise Boutique," con-
taining gift items contributed
by Detroit merchants, will be
set in the center of the ball-
room. The items, to be sold at
half their value, will be gift-
wrapped to conceal their iden-
tity. A $300 linen and organdy
dinner cloth with 12 napkins
will be given out as a door
prize.

hold an open-board meeting at
12:30 p.m., Nov. 8, at the Davi-
son Jewish Center. Presidents

Open Board Meeting to
Host Women's Groups

to members who contribute
$100 worth of time or mer-
chandise to Council's resale
shop. Proceeds from the sale of
the merchandise will finance
Council projects, such as schol-
arship funds, here and abroad,
the Detroit Community Work-
shop for the handicapped and
the new Council Activities Cen-
ter for Senior Adults.
The senior adult center will
open on Wednesday at 8432 W.
McNichols, next to Council
House. At the center, which
will maintain hours from 1 to
4 p.m., Wednesdays, senior
adults will plan social and cul-
tural activities around their
interests. No membership dues
will be required.
The center's program will
be supervised by Mrs. - Harry
E. Roer and trained Council
volunteers. The Jewish Com-
munity Center representative,
Eugene Jaffe, supervisor of the
D. W. Simons branch, will
advise programming. - -
Mrs. Edward Quint, Council
president, has appointed Mrs.
Joseph Geschelin as chairman
of the center operating com-
mittee and Mrs. Sanford Izner
as administrative assist an t.
Other committee members are
Mesdames Theodore Bargman,
Martin Butzel, Louis Fisher,
William Frank, David Handel-
man, Louis Hinderstein and
Victor Shiffman. Mrs. Samuel
J. Caplan, Council vice-presi-
dent of community service, will
oversee center operations.
All senior men and women
will be welcomed to the center
housewarming on Wednesday.
Refreshments will be served.

A get-acquainted membership
party is being planned for the
Yoting Marrieds Group of Tem-
ple Israel at 9 p.m., Nov. 16,
in the temiole's youth room.
The program, open only to
members, will be-highlighted by
games and refreshments. Co-
chairmen are the Sandy Gales
and Seymour Raskins.
They are being assisted by
Messrs. and Mesdames Dave
Solomon, Sam Fried, Milton
Firestone and Morris Bargman.
NeW members are invited to
join at the door.
