A Fish Story
Lighter Vein' Israeli
Girl Now

By Shin Fey Samaeh

(From the Jerusalem Post)

All kinds of proposals for
peace have been in the air re-
cently. We have picked up one
that we like particularly be-
cause it applies to the noisy
Syrian border.
A New York lawyer who
represents the Interfaith Com-
mittee for Peace, Jacob • - D.
Fuchsberg, has announced-that
his organization Wishes to put
up a pillar of peace on the
shores of Lake Kinneret. He is.
at present in England, where he
took a small scale model of the
proposed 100-foot granite pillar,
which is. to have an electric
beacon on top. He also seeks to
put up an auditorium where
"Jews, Christians and MOslems
could sort out their differences"
at the point where the frontiers
of Syria, Jordan and Israel
meet.
We are always - in favor of
peace, although the Mixed Ar-
mistice Commission talks, which
might have been - an encourag-
ing example of inter-faith co-
operation, never seem to have
got anywhere.
If the meeting-place is not
a success, perhaps we shall at
least be able to use the tower
for searchlights against infiltra-
tors.

large notice that read in He-

this case the Hebrew word used
for chew is split and the word
for seeds is that also used for

ELATH (JTA) — A touring .
Chicago* bond drive delegate
who flew here for a brief visit
this week gave a local res-
taurant an unscheduled demon-
stration of American ingenuity,
applied to, of all things, the
cleaning of fish.
After making the usual trips
to the port area, museum and
mine, the Chicagoan, whose
name was not recorded for his-
tory, accidentally walked into
the kitchen of a restaurant.
There he saw a young girl
struggle to clean a load of fish
with a butcher-knife.

business acumen, he imme-
diately found a way to increase
production, American-style.
Gathering up a number of
bottle caps lying nearby, he
showed the 'girl how to nail
them to a board with the rough
side up. The result was a scaler
that did the job in half the time
and with greater ease.
