Promotes
Two Staffers as
Ass't Directors
E-4
I;
PP.
The promotion of two Sinai
Hospital "staff members to as-
sistant directors was announced
this week by Max Osnos, Sinai
. president.
e
The two men are David C.
Kreger and Henry Gotthelf,
who both joined Sinai in 1955
as a d m i nistrative assistants.
They hold master's degrees in
hospital administration from
the Columbia University school
of public health.
et
Kreger, a native Detroiter,
attended Cranbrook, and rg-
ceived his bachelor's degree
from Oberlin- College. Prior to
attending Columbia, he worked
for a year as an adminisrative
intern.
"Jerusalem" was not always
the actual name of the major
Israeli city. In early Biblical
times, the city was known as
"Salem," a name carried over
to the United States by the
Biblically-oriented settlers i n
our own Massachusetts.
Later the Israeli city was
called "Jebus," after the Jebu-
sitet who lived there before
King David captured the area.
Afterwards the city was called
"City of David."
The name "Zion," by which
Present-day Jerusalem also has
been called, derives from the
name of the most important hill
there—Mount Zion. Because the
historic significance and phy-
sical prominence of the moun-
taM became so identified with
the city of Jerusalem, the
ancient prophets themselves
felt "Zion" to be an appropriate
name for the city.
Jerusalem\ also became known
as the "Holy City" because the
Temple had been -built there.
Today, the name "Jerusalem" is
thought of as meaning "the
City of Peace."
