U. S. Educators
to Study in Israel

NEW YORK, (JTA) - Two

Israel's cultural, educational in-
stitutions and pedagogic meth-
ods and progress, the Jewish
Agency has announced.
The first party consists of
Christian scholars who teach
the Bible, religious education
and philosophy at American in-
stitutions of higher learning in
various parts of the U.S.
The second group includes

ada. Among the American cities

OSE Ends Parley
with Resolution on
JDC Assistance

PARIS, (JTA) - The World
OSE Union, in resolutions
adopted at the conclusion of
its five-day international con-
ference last week, expressed
appreciation to the Joint Dis-
tribution Committee for the as-
sistance and generous support
given to OSE in the past and
announced that the conference
has adopted general principles
which would serve as a basis
for a new agreement between
OSE and JDC.
The OSE conference affirmed
its belief that a "very impor-
tant" field of OSE activity was
to be found in Israel. It sug-
gested that a full OSE medical
program in the Jewish State
be worked out in cooperation
with the Israel Ministry of
Health and other competent
Israeli authorities.
Among other decisions ar-
rived at during the parley was
one to give program priority
to preventive medicine -and
health education by national
branches of OSE. However, the
conference decided, in coun-
tries where OSE operated
among huge masses of poor peo-
ple and where local health ar-
rangements appeared inade-
quate the local OSE committee
should give priority to curative
medicine.
Abel Shaban of South Africa
was named president of the
OSE central board and Boris
Pregel, former president of the
American OSE, was elected
honorary president of the
World OSE Union.

Canadian Jews to Call
for Prime Minister's Aid

MONTREAL (JTA) - A
Canadian Jewish Congress dele-
gation will soon call on the
new Prime Minister, John Die-
fenbaker, to place before the
new Conservative government
CJC views on civil rights, im-
migration act amendments, spe-
cial immigration provisions for
Egyptian and Polish refugees
and other matters of interest
to the Jewish community, it
was decided at a meeting of
the CJC national executive in
Toronto.
Emphasis will be placed,
during the meeting with the
Prime Minister, on the need
for admitting Egyptian exiles
and Polish refugees currently
in Western Europe, as well as
close relatives in Morocco of
Canadian citizens. A joint rep-
resentation with the United
Zionist Council will be made
on a variety of matters affect-
ing Israel.

Elect Shaban to Head
World Union OSE

PARIS, (JTA)-The five-day
international conference of the
World Union OSE, Jewish
Health Organization which en-
joys consultative status with the
United Nations Economic and
Social Council, concluded after
hearing reports on the activities
of the organization in North
Africa, Israel and other coun-
tries, and following the naming
of a nine-man board to draft
the OSE program for the next
12 months.
Abel Shaban, South African
Jewish leader, was elected pres-
ident of the Central Board of
the organization.
The conference, which was
held at the UNESCO House
here, dealt particularly with
the reorganization of the OSE
in Israel and discussed the situa-
tion in which CSE institutions
find themselves at present in
North Africa.
It was reported that the or-
ganization has 29 branches lo-
cated in 23 countries through-
out the world. The American
delegation at the conference
was headed by Boris Pregel, in-
dustrialist, and Dr. L. Wulhman
of New York.

Times Sees Nasser in New
Crusade Against Israel
New York, (AJP)-Comment-
ing editorially on Col. Nasser's
latest decree on the Suez Canal,
the New York Times observed:
"In a new fiat supposed to
`legalize' his seizure of the Suez
Canal, President Nasser has
issued a unilateral decree which,
while paying lip, service to the
Suez convention of 1888, again
repudiates the "definitive sys-
tem' of international supervision
established therein and pro-
claims his own absolute control
of canal operations. At the same
time, to win back the Arab
states which split with him over
the Communist issue, he is seek-
big to enlist them in a new
crusade against Israel under
his command . . ."

tions of Britain, will arrive in

the view of initiating negotia-
tions to create a world union of

panied by his wife, the former
