designation today.
It is also recognized as "The
City with a Heart," a title con-
ferred upon the growing com-
munity by the Sgt. Morton Sil-
verman Pest 418 of the Jewish
War Veterans.
At ceremonies of installation
which took place last Sunday
evening, in the JWV Memorial
Home in Detroit, the Silvertnan
Post and Auxiliary presented a
plaque to the people of the city
of Oak Park.
The inscription on the plaque
read "For humanitarian respon-
siveness to human need."
The plaque was presented to

Oak Park, by Henry Littman,
the newly-installed commander
of the Silverman Post,

elected president of Cong. Beth
Shalom at a recent general syn-
agogue meeting. The nominat-
ing slate, which was unanim-
ously adopted, also included:
Harry Grenader, executive
vice-president; Morris Arno-
witz and Robert White, vice-
presidents; Seymour Tarnoff,
treasurer; Walter Nussbaum
and Mrs. Fred Krauss, secre-
taries.
Elected to the board of •direct-

Center Art Pupils
to Exhibit Work
The first annual student art
exhibit at the Ten Mile Jewish
Center will be held from 2 to
5 p.m., Sunday, in the' center
