Elect Satovsky National President
of Jewish Men's Clubs Federation

Abraham Satovsky was elect-

Clubs at the 28th annual con-
vention held at the Concord
'Hotel, Kiamesha Lake, N.Y.
The Federa-
tion represents
over 250 men's

agogues
throughout the
United States
and _Canada.
At the con-
vention, theme
of which was
"The New and
the Old — Satovsky
Binding Tradition and the Fu-
ture", an award for sponsoring
the best youth program in the
country was presented to the
Cong. Shaarey Zedek Men's
Club of Detroit.
Harry Gunsberg, of Cong.
Bnai Moshe, and Carl S. Schil-
ler, of Shaarey Zedek, were
elected to the national board of
directors.
The award for distinguished
service to the. American Jewish
Community was given to Bos-
ton philanthropist Philip W.
Lawn.

Mark to Speak
at Local Rally

Yudel Mark, prominent phi-
lologist, will address a rally
called by the Detroit Commit-
tee of Friends for the Great
Yiddish Dictionary.
The rally is scheduled for
* 8:30 p.m., Saturday, in the
- Esther Berman Bldg. of the
United Hebrew Schools, Scha-
fer and W. 7 Mile Rd. The
. public is invited.
Mark will speak on "The
Yiddish Language and Its De-
irelopment through the Genera-

Wayne Law Student
Wins Three Honors

Elliot I. Beitner, 18481 'Hart-
well, was awarded top honors
at Wayne State University's
Law Day program last Friday.
Beitner won three honors in-
cluding the U.S. Law Week
Award, for his top scholarship.
The U.S. Law Week Award is
annually presented to the sen-
ior with the best academic rec-
. ord. Beitner also received a gold
key and was` cited for his work
, as Editor - in - Chief on the
Wayne State Law Review, for
which he received the Burton
Abstract and Title Scholarship.
A 1951 graduate of Wayne's
College of Liberal Arts, Beitner
also has done graduate work in
Clinical Psychology at Michigan
State University. He is a mem-
ber of Omicron Delta Kappa. •

Rabbi Aaron Blumenthal, presi-
dent of the Rabbinical -Assem-
bly of America; and Dr. Ber-
nard Segal, executive director
of the United Synagogues of
America.
Detroit delegates to the con-
vention included Schiller, Ben
B. Sidlow, Abe Katzman, I.
Murray Jacobs, Dr. Henry Ber-
ris, Meyer Shugerman and their

The convention officially ad-
mitted 36 new men's clubs to
the national body, which is in
excess of 35,000 members.

`May Dance' to Conclude
Detroit Socialite Season

Detroit socialites will hold
their "May Dance" Sunday
evening in the main hall of
Cong. Beth Abraham, 8100 W.
Seven Mile Rd., it was an-
nounced by Brenda Chips and
Esther Goldstein, -dance co-
chairmen.
The finale of this organiza-
tion's pre.-summer social sea-
son, the event will feature
music and entertainment by
Mickey Woolf and his orches-
tra. Refreshments will be
served by club hostesses _dur-
ing the dance intermission.
For the first time, the dance
committee has arranged 'to pro-
vide transportation for the
ladies who wish -to attend.-
