the engagement of their daugh-
ter, Vicky Weisberger, to Loren
G. Gross, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Isidor Oppenheim, of Stratford
Ave. The bride-elect's father is
the late Mr. Lewis Weisberger.
Miss Weisberger is a junior at
Wayne State University, where
she is majoring in economics.
Her fiance is studying architec-
ture at Lawrence Institute of
Technology. .
An Aug. 25 wedding date has
been set.

Beth Abraham Plans
Sports Award Night
The youth - commission of
Cong. Beth Abraham, together
with the Men's Club, will hold
an award presentation program
during annual sports night, at
8:30 p. m., May 28, in the syn-
agogue social hall. -
Tributes will be extended to
the Beth Abraham basketball
team, which was the divisional
winner of the 1956-57 rnter-
congregational B ask et b all
League title. A trophy will be
presented to the congregation.
Fred Nagler, radio and tele-
vision sportscaster, will parti-
cipate in the program.
According to. arrangements
chairmen Willie Operrer and
Louis Siporin a buffet supper
will be served.
Beigin Meets Senate
Leaders on Capital Tour

Menachem Beigin, leader of Is-
rael's Herut Party, met with
Senate Democratic Leader Lyn-
don Johnson, Republican Lead-
er William Knowland, and Ma-
jority and Minority Leaders of
the - House to explain his views
on Near East developments.
Beigin told a press conference
that his party advocates the
eventual incorporation of terri-
tory now occupied by Jordan.
He said this would contribute
to peaceful :conditions a n d
. would be in keeping with Is-

Ben,Haint'Sparks Students' Fete of Israel's Birthday
The 24th annual meeting of
the Jewish _Community Center
will take place Wednesday, 8:30
p.m., at the Ten Mile branch,
1'5110 W. Ten Mile Road.
Included on the agenda will
be the president's annual re-
port, the 'annual election of di-
rectors to the board, a survey
of 1956-57 program highlights,
and awards honoring volun-
teers. Jacob L. Keiden will pre-
side.
The slate of nominees to be
presented for election to the
board for a three-year term
will include Mrs. Samuel S.
Aaron, Judge Victor J. Baum,
Herman Fishman, Mrs. Harry
L. Jackson, Mrs. Benjamin.
Jones and Jack 0. Lefton.
Among the nominees for re-
election to a three-year term
are Harry B. Aronow, Mrs.
Harry E. August, Edward
Fleischman, Mrs. Benjamin E.
Jaffe, Mrs. Victor Shiffman,

Labor Zionists to Hear
Rabbi Chinitz on Spinoza
"Spinoza:. The Man and His
Work" will be the subject of
Rabbi Jacob Chinitz, speaking
before a meeting of Branch 11,
Labor Zionist Organization,
Saturday evening at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Medow,
20221 Mark Twain. Rabbi Chi-
nitz is the spiritual leader of
Cong. Ahavas Achim.

Israel's consul in Chicago,
Shaul Ben-Haim, was principal
speaker at the Israeli Students
Association celebration of the
nine-year-old democracy's an-
niversary of Independence, at
the Davison Jewish Center,
Monday night.
The event was sponsored by
.Israeli students studying at
Wayne State University and the
University of Detroit.
Ben-Haim, consul in Chicago
since February, 1956, evaluated
Israel's achievements:- As part
