Stollman Heads Merged Religious Zionists

Unification of the local chap-
ters of Mizrachi and Hapoel
Hamizrachi was accomplished at
a meeting last week, following
the pattern of the national or-
ganizations which formed as one
body at a convention Jan. 9, in
Atlantic City, N. J.
Phillip Stollman was unani-
mously confirmed as president
of the combined group. It was
decided that the executive com-
mittees and boards of both or-
ganizations would jointly direct
activities until official elections
in the fall.
Rabbi Isaac Stollman, newly-
elected national president of the
Religious Zionist Organization,
the name given to the merged
Mizrachi-Hapoel Hamizrachi or-
ganization, was guest speaker.
Stollman called for an exten-
sive membership drive, high-
lighted by a call for charter
members. He also stressed the
importance of cooperating with
the Allied Jewish Campaign,
which is soon to be launched in
the local community.
Stressing the urgency of the
emergency conditions faced by
Israel and the vast program of
immigration currently taking
place, Stollman appointed a
committee to work for intensi-
fying efforts for Israel, mainly
through the Allied Jewish Cam-
paign.

MERGER PROCLAMATION OF
MIZRACHI and HAPOEL HAMIZRACHI
IN DETROIT

Fifty-five years have passed
since the MIZRACHI movement
first entered the arena of his-
tory. Dedicated to the creation
of a Jewish State, true to the
tradition and spirit of Torah,
its name symbolized its devo-
tion to the historic principle
that Eretz Israel is and will
remain the spiritual center of
the Jewish People all over the
world.
Convinced that -the eland of
Israel, the people of Israel and
the Torah of Israel are one and
that a Jewish State is indispen-
sable for the continued exist- -
ence of Jewish life everywhere,
the Mizrachi implanted the love
of Zion and the Torah in the
hearts of Jews in the United
States of America and through-
out the world.
A network of schools Were
established throughout Israel
and the United States and gen-
erations , of Jews were trained
consecrated to the Torah heri-
tage and the land of our
fathers. Mizrachi played an
historic and decisive role in
the long and arduos political
struggle which finally culmin-
ated in the establishment of the
State of Israel. MIZRACHI and
HAPOEL HAMIZRACHI ate a
part of the government of the
Jewish State since its incep-
tion.
From within Mizrachi, there
developed the Hapoel Hamizra-
chi, which proclaimed that
through the principles of la,
bor and social justice, the pro-
phetic ideals of the Torah can
best be concretized in daily
life. Its heroic pioneers, build-
ing the Jewish Homeland with
a plough and a prayer and de-
fending it with their lives,
stamped whole regions with
their religious and chalutzic
character. Hapoel Hamizrachi
created settlements, cooperative
and various economic enter-
prises -which won their respect
and admiration of the entire
yishuv.
During these many years, the
Mizrachi and Hapoel Hamiz-
rachi have worked together in
many vital. areas. With the
emergence of the State of
Israel, it became increasingly
apparent that there is a need
for complete consolidation of
all religious forces in Israel and
in the -Diaspora in order to
advance the program for a
Torah-true Israel. The merger
of liapoel Hamizrachi and Miz-

rachi has already been effected
in Israel. The unification in.
this Country was completed and
approved at the SPECIAL
MERGER CONVENTION
HELD IN ATLANTIC CITY
ON JANUARY 9th, 1957. WE
HERE IN DETROIT, PRO-
CLAIM THE MERGING OF
BOTH MIZRACHI AND HA-
POEL HAMIZRACHI to be
known as the AMERICAN RE-
LIGIOUS ZIONIST ORGAN-
IZATION MIZRACHI-HAPOEL
HAMIZRACHI.
With the help of G-d, the
UNITED MIZRACHI MOVE-
MENT will be dedicated to the
following principles:
1. The provision of maximum
moral and material assistance
to the State of Israel through
the United Jewish Appeal,
Bonds for Israel, Jewish Na-
tional Fund, etc.
2. The encouragement of
chalutz and aliyah to Israel.
3. The support of Israel's re-
ligious Zionist Movement and
its various institutions and en-
terprises- including the BAR-
ILAN University.
\ 4. The maintenance of an in-
tensive program of Jewish edu-
cation and culture in the United
States.
The Mizrachi-Hapoel Hamiz-
rachi of Detroit calls upon every
Jew in our Community to rally
to the support of this program
and join its ranks so that the
sacred task before us may be
carried forward successfully.
Let us serve as an example of
unity for other Organizations
in ISRAEL and in the Diaspora.
At this crucial time in the
History of the Jewish People
and the Jewish State, with
united effort and the help of
the Almighty we will live to
see the flourishing of Am Yis-
rael, Eretz Yisrael and Torat
Israel.
