`Eliza' to Close
Hadassah Drive
A three-act musical play,
"Eliza," is planned for paid-up
members of the Detroit Chapter
of Hadassah and their husbands
at 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, at
Adas Shalom Synagogue.
Mrs. Leo Seligson will be
featured in the title role of
the production, scheduled as
MRS. LEO SELIGSON
the culminating_ event of the
season's -membership drive.
The play, to be presented by
the Hadassah Cafe Theater,
with Mrs. Morris Adler as mis-
tress of ceremonies, was in-
spired by the Broadway hit,
"My Fair Lady." Mrs. Sidney
Winer is director, with Mrs.
Seligson assisting and Mrs.
Harry Platt' as accompanist.
Members of the cast are
Mesdames Henry Siegel, Mar-
vin Mintz, Cal Soskin, Irving
Levine,. Jack Perlman, Albert
Newman, Alfred Alexander,
Leo Panzer, Julian Tobias,
Charles Garvett, Edward Can-
tor and Myron Schefman.
A bagel and lox supper will
be served.

As. seniors are hustling and
bustling with last-minute prepa-
rations for graduation next
week, a few preliminary events
have already taken place.
Grads today don their caps
and gowns for the traditional
"Swing-In" in which seniors
march down the halls of Cen-
tral for the last time. Lead-
ing the parade are class of-
ficers Jerry Gross, Beryl Fal-
baum, Ronny Sherr and Phyl-
lis Zager.
In keeping with this spirit,
the prom will be held Satur-
day night, at the Veterans Me-
morial.,
Many 'Lites received Citizen-
ship AwardS Tuesday after be-
ing given points for coopera-
tion, service, attendance and
reliability. Students must have
eight points to win the award.
Anna Malafouris is the only
five-time winner. Those who
have received the honor for the
fourth time are Evelyn August,
Sharon Bernstein, Barbara
Gamburd, Joanne Ivory, Martha
Rubenstein, Marsha Schlachter,
Dan Slobin, Rosalind Venable,
and Jean Waugh. Congrats!
The Wayne State University
computing department was a
site of interest for one of Cen-
tral's trigonometry classes as
'Lites saw various business' and
industrial machines being put to
use. Among those attending
were Arnie Serlin, Earle Endel-
man, Barbara Hershey, Danny
Malamud, Alan Sinai, Jerry
Goldberg, Alvin Delido and
Sharie Levy.

to Norman Young, recently-
elected president .of the all-city

date for the semi - annual
student council breakfast. Sen-
ate and House members are in-
vited to have breakfast and
then see the newly-elected offi-
cers installed. The breakfast is
planted by the social commit
tee of the council under the
chairmanship of Janet Bing.

Last Friday, Mumford's varsi-
ty baSketball team was handed
their third defeat by Southwest-
ern by the score of 65-58. The
Mustangs meet Northwestern
today, at Northwestern.
SA Institute Hold
Fund-Raising
Currently in the midst of a
membership building fund-rais-
ing drive, members of the Sho-
lem Aleichem Institute will take
time out for a "Family 'Restaur-
ant Day" from 1 to 7 p.m.,
Sunday, at the institute.
Louis Reder, chairman, ad-
vises that home-made dinners
will be served during those
hours, with specialty foods for
the youngsters. Friends, parents
and members of the- Institute are
invited.
The building drive was kicked
off at a brunch recently held at
the home of the Morris Fried-
mans, when over $10,000 was
raised as the initial contribu-
tion.
The Institute is planning an-
other brunch for the entire
membership at 12:30 p.m., Jan.
27, in the building on Wyoming.
Samuel Jacobson, co-chairman
of the building fund committee,
is chairman of the day.
Plans for construction of the
building on Greenfield and Vas-
sar, are now in the final stages.
An announcement on ground-
breaking ceremonies is expected
shortly.

Junior Hadassah's brunch this
Sunday will feature a book re-
view. The affair begins at 12:45
