Mr. and Mrs. Lean Mutch-
nick, of Fullerton Ave., at a
recent family d i n n e r, an-
nounced the engagement of
their daughter, Marilyn, to
Irving A. Hershman, son of
Mr. Jack Hershman, of Kent-
field Ave., and the late Mrs.
Rose Hershman.
The' bride is a senior in the
school of sociology at Wayne
State University. Her fiance is
a graduate of the WSU school
of business administration and
a member of Mu Beta Chi
fraternity.
A June 23 wedding is being
planned.

Pioneer Women Plan
JNF Forest in Israel

Pioneer Women, Women's La-
bor Zionist Organiiation of
America, at a meeting of its na-
--tional executive board, voted to
plant a forest in Israel, on Jew-
ish National FUnd land, com-
memorating the 'name of Gen.
Osaph Simchoni, conqueror of
the Sinai desert, who perished
in an airplane crash, following
the' successful Sinai march.
Mrs. Chaya Stirchin, national
president of Pioneer Women,
explained that included in the
Simchoni Forest will be 171
gardens of 100 trees each, com-
memorating the names of the
Israeli soldiers who fell in-Sinai
defensive action against Egypt.
Yehudit Simchoni mother of
the general and former member
of Israel's parliament, is one Of
the important leaders of Moat-
zot Hapoalot, sister organization
of Pioneer Women in Israel, and
served as a delegate of 1VIoatzot
Hapoalot to this country.
Gen. Simchoni, shortly before
his death accepted the surren-
der of the Egyptian army in
Gaza at a historic ceremony, at
which the chief Egyptian com-
mander signed the document of
capitulation.

Brevities

In observance of Landsman-
shaften Month for Jewish Na-
tional Fund, and JNF Month,
the ISRAEL CLUB of DETROIT
devoted a meeting to JNF and
its program of land reclamation
in Israel. In response to an ap-
peal for the planting of a tree
for each member, made by Ju-
lius Herman, 35 trees were
planted. Mr. and Mrs. Herman
were the evening's hosts.

The VIENNA BOYS CHOIR
will present a variety of music
when it appears at Detroit Town
Hall Monday, in Ford Auditcir-
ium. The concert will open with
a group of sacred songs from the
16th and 17th century and close
with a costume operetta.
