Zedakah Club's Silver-Jubilee Donor Adas Shalom Couples Judy Oberstein to Wed
Slate Two Programs
Slated Dec. 5, at Sheraton-Cadillac
Two events have been planned Mr. Donald Goodman
Working out plans which will assure all-out support of
Zedak Club's Silver Jubilee donor luncheon are, seated: Mrs.
MAX ELIAS, president; and, standing, left to right, Mesdames
ABE NUSHOLTZ, book chairman; LEONARD SHAPIRO, fund
chairman; MAURICE KNOPPER, pledge chairman; and JO-
SEPH STAUB, overall donor chairman. The jubilee will be
held at 12:30 p.m., Dec. 5, at the Sheraton-Cadillac Hotel, and
will feature television and night club personalities Sammy
Shore, emcee and comedian; and Jackie Heller, singer; together
with the Russ Weaver Trio. Prizes will be awarded. A report
meeting is slated for 12:30 p.m., Monday, in the home of Mrs.

Mrs. Sidney H. Jackson, presi-
dent, will extend greetings and
announce plans for the annual
Artist Concert, scheduled for
Dec. 16, at the Detroit Institute
of Arts. Violinist Joseph Silver-
stein will be soloist.
Center Teen-Age Council
Plans Two Film Showings
The Teen-Tween Council of
the Jewish Community Center
will present two films on Israel,
one depicting the struggle for
independence and the other
showing some of the cultural
differences between Jews and
Arabs. One showing will take
place Nov. 27, 8 p.m., at the
Berman branch auditorium,
18945 Schaefer; two additional
showings will take place in Hy-
man C. Broder auditorium of
the Davison branch, Nov. 28
and 29.

Detroit Socialites Plan
Hanukah Dance, Nov. 25
A Hanukah Dance is planned
by the Detroit Socialites for
Nov. 25, in the social hall of
Beth Abraham Synagogue, it
was announced this week by
Rose Altman, executive secre-
tary.
Mickey Woolf and his orches-
tra will provide the music, and
there will be entertainment. The
dance will take on a festival
theme.
Arrangements have been com-
pleted for a social with danc-
ing and refreshments this Sun-
day, also at Beth Abraham.

At 3 p.m., Nov. 25, . members
will hold their annual Hanukah
party for members and their
children, in the synagogue. Fol-
lowing the lighting of candles
and musical selections by Can-
tor Nicholas Fenakel, Mrs. Alva
Dworkin will lead children in
community singing.
Cartoons will be shown, and
holiday gifts and refreshments
will be provided each child.

Dr. Covensky to Speak
at Book Month Event
Dr. Milton Covensky, profes-
sor of history at Wayne State
University, will be guest
speaker at a Jewish Book Month
program arranged by Young
Israel Center for Wednesday
evening, at the Dexter Center.
The program will be pre-
ceded at 6:30 p.m. by a catered
dinner. Rabbi Joshua S. Sperka,
social and cultural chairman,
will introduce Dr. Covensky,
who will revievis, Martin Buber's
"Thou and I."
Future events planned by
Rabbi Sperka's committee in-
clude Hanukah program, Dec. 1;
Tu b'Shvat event, Jan. 17; panel
discussion, Feb. 13; Purim event,
March 18; and pre-Pesach pro-
gram, April 10.
