area were announced this week
by Rabbi Sholem Flam, who will
be spiritual leader of Cong.
Shomrey Emunah, soon to begin
services at the Labor Zionist
Institute, 19161 Schaefer.
The congregation actually
was organized prior to the High
Holy Day season in September,
but combined its planned serv-
ices with Young Israel for the
holidays.
Last week, however, after a
series of meetings involving
Rabbi Flam, the Jewish Com-
munity Council and leaders in
the community, it was an-
nounced that Cong. Shomrey
Emunah would hold services on
a regular weekly basis.
The synagogue has given up
its store-front location, and has
signed an agreement with the
LZ Institute to hold services
there on Friday evenings, Sat-
urdays and holidays.
Over 25 families were repre-
sented at an organizational
meeting, at which Nathan Bor-
instein was named temporary
president and Isadore Levin,
temporary vice-president.
A membership meeting is
planned for Nov. 21, after which
the first sabbath services will
be held Nov. 23 and 24.
The congregation will con-
tinue meeting for services, an
adult education program and
other Jewish activities at least
through the next High Holiday
season, after which a site will
be selected for a permanent syn-
agogue.
