Salary Increases Due as
Living 'Cost Jumps in Israel

JERUSALEM ,(JTA) — The
cost of living index jumped 13
points last month., necessitating
65 million pounds in salary in-
creases or w o r k e r s whose
wages are linked to the 'cost of
living. 'The government payroll
alone will go up by 13 million
pounds.
The index rose to 260 points,
a new, record for Israel which
has been plagued by inflation
from the day of its birth. The
index uses the cost of living in
September 19514 as a base of
100.
