Although the Krim : Theatre is
not in the "loop" theater dis-
trict, it is one of the most pa-
tronized cinemas in Detroit —
due to its "Lust for Life".

Somerset Maugham's "Quar-
tet" launched the theater. Mem-
orable showings since then were
"Red Shoes", "Hamlet", "Henry
V", "Open City", and "Paisan".
With such offerings, the Krim,
merely intended to be a neigh-
borhood theatre, magnetized
viewers from the city at large.
It was television that con-
firmed the "art policy" held by
Sol Krim. Popularity of the new
medium caused him to seek the
best films obtainable. The suc-
cess resulting from his efforts
inspires his calling T.V. "a
blessing in disguise".
Krim, who attended Wayne
University, owns other Detroit
theaters, which are leased to
churches and other companies.
He has a spiritual and financial
interest in the Stratford Canadi-
an Players and smaller theater
groups.
He cites "Lust for Life" as his
most successful film run. He
credits Kirk Douglas, "who has

WHEN CATERER Bill Kozin
came to Detroit in 1948 from
New York, he brought with him
an idea that soon turned into a
dream for him and his wife,
May . . . When he opened the
Rainbow Terrace on Wyoming,
two years ago, the makings to-
ward the ultimate realization of
their vision had its start . .
The fulfillment has come sooner
than either Bill or May expected
. . . and the dream that started
back when Bill used his idea at
his former restaurant and patio
in Long Island, on Sunrise High-
way, is soon to be a reality here
in Detroit . . . A canopy will
lead from the present Terrace
Room to the latest addition, the
Garden Room . . . and between
the two buildings will be a huge
area outside for gala summer
parties ... It's almost completed
and large affairs will now be
able to utilize these plus a smart
cocktail room besides . . . mak-
ing four separate party areas in
all . . • The project is a terrific
one, and May is now in Sinai
Hospital for a much needed rest
. . . -Bill just relaxes in the
thought that his dream has
finally come true . . . Now that-
Bill and May have achieved this
accomplishment, the only thing
standing in the way of complete
peace of mind for 'them is their
constant appeal to the someone
