Pioneer Council Holds
'Open House' Monday

An "Open House," the first
membership affair of the season
for the Detroit Council of Pio=
neer Women, will be held Mon-
day, 1 p.m., at the new Labor
Zionist Building, 19161 Schaefer.
Mrs. Norman Kanter, past presi-
dent of the organization, will
serve as chairman for the after-
noon. She will introduce the
new slate of officers, headed by
Mrs. Irving Turner, president.
With this meeting the Council
hopes to rally its membership
for a 1956-7 fund raising cam-
paign. Mrs. Chana Michlin,
guest speaker, will tell of her
experiences as one of a ten-
member delegation of Pioneer
Women to the World Zionist
Congress in Israel.
Sharona Choral Group, under
the direction of Mrs. Ted Sallen
and accompanied by Mrs. Vic-
tor Linden, will perform. Re-
freshments will be served.

The engagement of Gloria
Fox, daughter of Mrs. Mae Fox,
of mai Broadstreet, and the late
Mr. Daniel Fox, to Dr: Leon T.
Fogel, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Abraham Fogel, of 3737 Glen-
dale, was recently announced.
The bride-elect attended
Wayne State University. Dr.
Fogel is a graduate of WSU and
the University of Michigan
Dental School, where he was
affiliated with Alpha Omega
dental fraternity.
The couple is planning a Dec.
18 wedding.

Circle Groups Begin
Activities of New Year

Branch 1060 of the Work-
men's Circle will have its first
meeting of the season at 1 p.m.,
today, at the home of Ed and
Norma Shifrin, 20050 Vaughan.
Bill and Selma Goode will show
color slides they took on a re-
cent trip through Israel and
Europe.
The Women's Division of the
Workmen's Circle will hold its
opening meeting on Monday at
1 p.m., at the W. C. Educational
Center, 11529 Linwood. A cal-
endar of coming events will be
developed at the meeting, Mrs.
Nadia Entin, chairman, has an-
nounced.
