Detroiter Reuben Silver Directs
`Shakespeare Under Stars' Play

Shuttling back and forth, be-
tween Yellow Springs and To-
ledo, 0., a distinguished cast of
actors appears in a series of
Shakespearean plays. The se-
ries, known as "Shakespeare
Under the Stars," preceded the
sensational Stratford, - Ontario,
undertaking. It is a more am-
bitious program, and . this year
the company is presenting seven
Shakespearean productions.
One of them, "Comedy of
Errors," first presented at the
Toledo Zoo on July 11, there-
upon going to Antioch College
in Yellow Springs on July 18,
was d i r e c to d by Reuben
Silver, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Silver of Detroit.
Mr. Silver is now in Yellow
Springs, supervising repeat per-
formances of the "Comedy." He
is the dramatic director of a
popular Cleveland playhouse,
Karamu House. Holding a B. S.
from Wayne University and an
M. A. from the University of
Connecticut, Reuben Silver now
is working on his doctorate at
Ohio State University.
Of interest also in connec-
tion with the "Shakespeare
Under the Stars" series is that
an Israeli, Rubin Sifter, who
had played with Habimah, is
a member of the cast of this
interesting set of players.
-
At Toledo zoo, four plays
already have been staged —
"Much Ado About Nothing,"
"All's Well That Ends Well,"
"Comedy of Errors," and "King
Lear."
The fifth play in the se-
ries, "Love's Labour's Lost,"
commenced this Wednesday
evening. This and the other
plays will alternate from now
until the end of the season on

The company gave an excel-
lent account .of itself on
Wednesday evening in "Love's
Labour's Lost." It showed a se-.
rious approach to a labor of
love in casting Shakespeare.
"Hamlet" will be next week's
production. It will be followed
by repetition alternately of all
the plays on the "Shakespeare
Under • the Stars" schedule,
with the Reuben Silver di-
rected "Comedy of Errors"
again to be staged on Aug. 14,
