Garden Setting for
Grushko-Coggan- Rites
Mrs. Kate Green, of Broadstreet Blvd., has left by air for
an extended visit with friends in Miami Beach, Fla.
Mr. N. J. Stein, of Parkway Dr., left recently for a two-week
stay as a guest of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. Jacobs, of Kentucky Ave., announce
the recent graduation of their son, Dr. Milton M. Jacobs,, from
the University of Detroit Dental School.
Miss Irene Seltzer has returned to her home in Miami Beach,
Fla., after spending a fortnight in Detroit. While here, she, was
a guest of Rabbi Benjamin Gorrelick and family.
Miss Sarah Johnson, president of the Detroit Chapter of
Junior Hadassah, left on Thursday for an eight-week visit in
Israel. Miss Johnson will make 'the trip as a result of a partial
scholarship to • the , Israel Summer Institute.
Mr. and Mrs. Philip Levine and daughter, Harriet, formerly
of Clements Ave., are now residing in their new home at 17399
Mendota.
Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Caron, their children, Andrea and
Samuel, and their sister, Sally Miller, of 18500 Santa Rosa, were
recent guests at the Hotel Riviera, Las Vegas, Nev.
Dr. George R. Kerwin and Dr. Harold D. Portnoy, Of 20130
Canterbury, shaving received their • Medical degrees from the
college of medicine at Wayne State University, are now intern-
ing, Dr. Kerwin at Sinai Hospital, and Dr. Portnoy at Grace
Hospital.
Roslyn Lichtenstein, of Stoepel Avenue, Carolyn Sills, of
Santa Barbara Drive, and Evelyn Litvin, of Woodingham Drive,
have just returned from Miami Beach, Fla. They were iiter-
taine11 by Miss Sills' aunt, Mrs. Pauline Max, and grandmother,
Mrs. David Silverstein, of Miami Beach, and Miss Lichtenstein's
aunt, Mrs. Max Waldfogel of Coral Gables, Fla., and Miss Litvin's
cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Pozen of Coral Gables.
Miss Ellen Stutz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George M. Stutz,
of Huntington • Woods, Mich., left by air on Monday for a visit
in Monterey, Calif: with her cousins, Lt. (J.G.) and Mrs. Norman
R. Atkins and their son, Danny. Lt. Atkins is serving as legal
officer at the U. S. Naval Postgraduate SChool.

gathered last weekend at Unser
Camp, Highland Mills, N. Y., for
the national School Conference
of the Farband School System.
Delegates from Detroit's
United Jewish Folk Schools who
attended were Harry Mondry,
president of the school board;
Mrs. Adele Mondry, Mrs. Naomi
Abramson, vice- president; A.
Beitner, school board member;
and Movsas Goldoftas, director
of the schools.
Basic problems of the move-
ment and of the entire Jewish
community were discussed. Par-
ticular emphasis was placed on
day schools, higher education
for youth, a six year program
to replace the current five-year
plan and relationsthips with
other school systems.
Delegates will report on the
proceedings some time in July,
when a meeting will • be sched-
uled at the Labor Zionist In-
stitute.
The Folk Schools office is
presently open from 10 a.m. to
5 p.m., daily, to accept fall en-
rollments. New beginners classes
