Mr. and Mrs. Norman Lee, of 18272 Santa Barbara, will
attend graduation exercises of the University of Michigan Medi-
cal -School this Saturday, when their son, Martin L. Lee, will
receive his degree. He will intern at University Hospital, Ann
Arbor.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Auslander were honored with a cele-
bration in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary last Tuesday,
at Rainbow Terrace. The party was given by their children, Mr.
and Mrs. Irving Auslander and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Spilkin. The
Auslanders were married in New York on June 10, 1906, after
leaving Hungary in 1898. They settled in Detroit in 1919. In
honor of the occasion, the Auslander Family Club is donating
a library at Cong. Bnai Moshe.
Mr. Louis Rubinoff, of Woodingham Dr., has left for Paris,
France, aboard the SS United States where he will visit briefly
before leaviing for a stay in Israel with his children. He will tour
Italy and Switzerland before returning home.
Miss Adrienne Goldberg will present a group of her students
in' a piano recital at 8 p.m., Monday, at Baldwin Hall. The public
is invited to attend.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris Gordon, of 19162 Wisconsin, announce
the graduation of their son, ,Harvey, from the pharmacy school
of the Detroit Institute of Technology. He received a bachelor
of science degree.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Schakne have returned to their home
at 18464 Westland, Southfield Township, after a trip abroad dur-
ing which they visited in Morocco, Spain, Portugal, England and
France.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lichtenstein, of 18460 Stoepel, announce
the graduation of their:son, Marvin Sidney, from Michigan State
Normal College, Ypsilanti, with a bachelor of science degree.
Dr. Joel Richard Barkoff, son of Dr. and Mrs. Dennis Barkoff,
of 20231 Warrington, graduated this month from the Wayne
University Medical School. He has been accepted for internship
at University Hospital, Ann Arbor.
Dr. Stuart Barak, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Barak, of 19169
Monica, will leave for service in the U. S. Army Medical Corps
on July 1. He had been serving as a resident physician at Sinai
Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris Wolf, of . 9755 McQuade, announce the
graduation of their son, Joseph, from the Detroit Institute of
Technology college of pharmacy.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Wilhelm announce the graduation of their
daughter, Joyce, from the Wayne University Medical School. Dr.
Wilhelm will intern at Wayne County General Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Dean, of 3813 Buena Vista, will honor their
son, Dr. George Arthur. Dean, at a cocktail party this Saturday
evening in celebration Of his graduation from the Wayne Uni-
versity Medical School. Dr. Dean is a member of Phi Lambda
Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha fraternities. He will leave shortly
for Great Lakes Naval Hospital, Great Lakes, Ill., wlfere he will
serve his internship. His wife and children will join him shortly
thereafter. Out-of-town guests coming here for the celebration
are Mr. and Mrs. A. Mehlman, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Leonard Friedman and children, of Chicago, and Mr. and Mrs.
Ascher Brand and daughter, of New York City.
Mr. and Mrs. Carmi M. Slomovitz are now residing in their
new home at 20211, Bentler.,



Mrs. Chajes Tours Europe in Concert

Marguerite Kozenn Chajes,
well known Detroit soprano, has
left for her 11th consecutive
European" concert tour.
She flew • from here to Italy,
her first program to be given
in Rome with pianist Giorgio
Favaretto over Radio Station
Rai. She will fill engagements
in Vienna and Berlin.
During the latter part of July
she will be guest artist of Count
Chigi, founder and patron of
the famous music festival in
Siena, Italy. In August she will

tour the Scandinavian countries,
where she has several commit-
ments.
A portion of her tour will be
devoted to meeting prominent
composers and to selecting from
their works music suitable for
her programs of "Music by Liv-
ing Composers," which she will
present at the Detroit Public
Library and for various music
organizations upon her return
to Detroit.
Mrs. Chajes also expects to
attend the concert which Paul
Paray will conduct at the La
Scala in Milan.

The bride-elect is a graduate
of John Adams School, and at-
tended the University of Michi-
gan. Mr. Loewenberg was grad-
uated from North Shore Coun-
try Day School, Winnetka, Ill.,
and is now completing his stu-
dies in architecture at the
Massachusetts Institute of Tech-
nology, where he is affiliated
with Sigma Alpha Mu frater-
nity.
