Day services are planned by
veterans groups and congrega-
,tions, both jointly and individu-
ally, this week in our houses
of worship and communal ceme-
teries.
Units of the American Legion,
Jewish War Veterans and the
three Reform congregations in
Detroit are planning to par-
ticipate.
The Memorial Day observ-
ances will begin at 8:30 p.m.,
Monday,. with pre-holiday - serv-
. ices at Cong. Bnai Moshe, un-
der the auspicies of Julius
Rosenwald Post of the Ameri-
can Legion.
Participating in the -service
will be the Gold Star Mothers,
Hyman Paysner, Rosenwald
Americanism officer who will
unveil a memorial plaque; Jos-
eph Shapiro, adjutant who will
re-dedicate the plaque; and
Sigmund Jaulus, Bnai Moshe
president who will honor the
synagogue'S war dead.
Rabbi Moses Lehrman will
deliver a spiritual message,
and Cantor David Katzman
will chant the memorial serv-
ice. Lt. Col. Cecil D .Ferguson,
of the U. S. Marine COrps,
will be guest speaker.
The opening and closing
prayers will be given by Chap-
lain Robert Fenkell; William
Tibbs will play the call to the
colors and taps on the bugle;
and a Marine Corps color guard
will be featured.
Another service is planned by
Bnai Moshe at 12 noon, Wed-
nesday, when Memorial Day
services will be conducted at
Oakview Cemetery, Royal Oak,
with the Lt. Bloch-Gen. Rose
Post of the Jewish War Vet-
erans and Boy Scout Troop 23.
Rabbi Lehrman will deliver
the principal address. Other
participants are Rabbi Moses
Fischer, Jaulus, Thomas Tan-
ner, JWV Post president, and
Cantor Katzman, who will chant
the prayers.
The principal JWV service
will take place at 11 a.m., Wed-
nesday, at Machpela h Ceme-
tery, under auspices of the De-
partment of Michigan.
Leon Ginsberg, chairman of
the commemorative event for
the past 13 years, said the pro-
gram will be held at the plot
for servicemen, in which rest
50 fallen Jewish soldiers.
Rabbi Herbert Eskin, JWV
Department chaplain, will con-
duct the services, and Cantor
Hyman J. Adler will chant the
El Moleh Rachamim. David
Meyers will play taps on the
bugle.
Also scheduled for 11 a.m.,
Wednesday is the joint service
of Adas Shalom Synagogue
and the Pfc. Joseph L. Bale
Post of JWV. The program
will be held at Northwest He-
brew Memorial Park Ceme-
tery, 6 Mile and Middlebelt.
Rabbi Jacob E. Segal will of-
ficiate. Members of the Post

ice of Temples Beth El, Emanu-
El and Israel will be conducted
at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at Beth
El Memorial Park, 6 Mile, east
of Middlebelt.

preach on "The .Meaning of

The 32nd annual Memorial
Day service of Clover Hill Park
Cemetery will be held in co-
operation with Shalom Post of
the Jewish War Veterans at 11
a.m., Wednesday.
Rabbi Morris Adler will de-
liver the principal address. Also
participating will be Rabbi Mil-
ton Arm, Cantor Jacob H. Son-
enklar, the Cong. Shaarey Zed-
ek Choi r, directed by Dan
Frohman and officers of Shol-
om Post. •
The JWV unit will present
colors and decorate the graves
of deceased servicemen.

The sale of the chapel for
an undisclosed sum was an-
nounced on Thursday by Rabbi
Joshua S. Sperka, Menorah
president, and Fr. Celestin J.
Steiner, U. of D. president.
The building, valued at over
a quarter of a million dollars,
will be used by U. of D. for
a communication arts building.

Chase-Park Hotels, St. Louis,
Missouri.

scheduled at the four-day meet-
ing which will deal with "The
Changing Jewish Community."

delivered by Isidore Sobeloff,
executive director of the Jewish
Welfare Federation of Detroit,
will set the frame of reference
for the discussants, particularly
the readaptation of existing
Jewish communal services to
