This week the Jewish News
Stamp Collector devotes itself
to a "true and false" quiz. Let's
see how well you can do . .
Answer "true" or "false" to the
following statements:
1. LIFE magazine once de-
voted its entire front cover to
colored pictures of stamps from
around the world.'
2. The United States first
issued postage stamps in 1847.
3. It is possible to buy Israeli
stamps by mail-from the Min-
istry of Posts in Jerusalem,
Israel.
4. Jewish National Fund
"charity seal" stamps were once
used for postage in modern-
day Israel.

sold the first regular issue of
Israeli stamps for $8.50 (un-

Formation of a Detroit Corn-
mittee for the National Jewish
Hospital at Denver was an-
nounced by Leon S. WaybUrn
of Luckoff and Wayburn, Inc.,
advertising agency.
Mr. Wayburn is chairman of
the committee. Maurice Arons-
son and Eugene J. Arnfeld are
vice-chairmen. Leo Franklin has
been designated treasurer.

Announcing the formation of
the Detroit committee fo rthe
hospital, Mr. Wayburn said:
"The work of National Jewish
Hospital is' in keeping with our
highest democratic ideals. At
Denver the latest advancements
of medical science and the high
purposes of philantropy are
combined in service to our
afflicted needy, fellow-citizens.
Detroit and all America have
profited much through the work
that is being done at. the insti-
tution and the committee is glad
to have a part in furthering
this life-saving work."
Founded 57 years ago by Bnai
Brith, National Jewish Hospital
is famous for its program of
free treatment for needy suffers,
from tuberculosis and chest di-
seases. The hospital's program
of free care is, available to chil-
dren and adults of all faiths
who cannot afford to pay for
their own care, under its his-
toric motto, "None May Enter
Who Pay-None Can Pay Who
Enter."
Through the years the hospi-
tal has treated nearly 200 pa-
tients from Michigan who re-
ceived more than 70,000 days
of free care: Resident of Detroit
alone received nearly 50,000
days of free care.
Last November the hospital
held the first International
Symposium on Tuberculosis in
Infancy and Childhood, which
was attended by more than 150
leading physicians and research
scientists fro mall over the
world.
Presently under construction
is a. Rehamilitation Center, .
which will house the latest fa,
cilities in the vocational-educa-
tional field to enable the hos-
pital to re-train patients so that
when they are discharged they
can return to their communities
as productive citizens.

Montefio-re Lodge to Hear
Mental Illness Discussion

Abraham Brickner, member
of the So. Oakland County Com-
munity Services, Michigan Wel-.
fare League and Northville
State Hospital, will speak on
"Mental Illness-Its -Care and
Treatment" at a meeting of
•Montefiore Lodge No. 12 at 9
p.m., Tuesday, at the Lee Plaza
Hotel, W. Grand Blvd. at Law-
ton.
Brickner, who holds a Mas-
ter's degree in social work from
the Wayne University School of
Social Work, will illustrate his
talk with a -movie, showing the
methods used
treating the
mentally ill at Northville.
Dr. Robert R. Yoder, assistant
m e d i c al superintendent at
Northville, stated, "It is essen-
tial that the facts about mental
illness, its care and treatment,
