Founded 57 years ago by Bnai Brith, National Jewish Hospital is famous for its program of free treatment for needy suffers, from tuberculosis and chest di- seases. The hospital's program of free care is, available to chil- dren and adults of all faiths who cannot afford to pay for their own care, under its his- toric motto, "None May Enter Who Pay-None Can Pay Who Enter." Through the years the hospi- tal has treated nearly 200 pa- tients from Michigan who re- ceived more than 70,000 days of free care: Resident of Detroit alone received nearly 50,000 days of free care. Last November the hospital held the first International Symposium on Tuberculosis in Infancy and Childhood, which was attended by more than 150 leading physicians and research scientists fro mall over the world. Presently under construction is a. Rehamilitation Center, . which will house the latest fa, cilities in the vocational-educa- tional field to enable the hos- pital to re-train patients so that when they are discharged they can return to their communities as productive citizens.
