Williams Receives Israel Painting;
Local Exhibition Highly Successful

Governor G. MENNEN WILLIAMS stated that the Jeru-
salem portrait by Ludwig Blum, presented to him in • Lansin.g,
from the Israeli art exhibit that was on display here for five
weeks at Temple Israel, will occupy the most important spot
in his office. Present at the official presentation of the paint-
ing, at the State Capitol, were, from the left: BORIS JOFFE,
Lt. Gov. PHILIP A. HART, Miss YURIKA MANN, director of
the Jerusalem Art Center, who directed the exhibition in De-
troit, GOVERNOR WILLIAMS and Rabbi LEON FRAM.
Miss Mann reported, upon the closing of the exhibition in
Detroit, that most of the Paintings that were on display here
were sold to Detroit individuals and institutions. A major pur-
chaser of Israeli portraits from Miss Mann's collecfion is the
Detroit Art Institute, -which is acquiring seven paintings—by .
Blum, Achheim, Reuben Rubin, Marcel Jancu and Jacob
Steinhardt.
"The Detroit exhibtion was most successful," Miss. Mann
said.
