Charity Gifts Honor
Shayes' Anniversary
Center Croups Set Busy Purim Calendar
Purim will be celebrated at
the Jewish Community Center
with carnivals,' masquerades
and dances.
Juniors will find contests,
gifts and entertainment await-
ing them at the Junior Purim
Carnival on Sunday afternoon,
at the Davison branch. The
youngsters will play games of
skill and win prizes at the
booths operated by Junior
Clubs. Prizes will also be
awarded to winners of the cos-
tume contest.
Events will include a movie,
musical games, Junior Puppetry
Club's presentation at t h e
Purim Spieler Theater and
Music Play group's demonstra-
tion of rhythm instruments.
For nursery children, there
will be a nursery age Purim
Carnival in the game room, in
conujnction with the Junior
Carnival.
Jewish Parents Institute chil-
dren and their friends will mark
the holiday with a Children's
Carnival, at 10 a.m., Sunday.
Eighteen booths, planned and
decorated by JPI children and
teen-agers, will offer amuse-
ment and prizes. "The Wander-
ing Beggar," a puppet show,
will be performed by the pup-
petry group. Refreshments will
be served. Esther Siefer is
chairman of the Carnival Com-
mittee.
For adult JPI'ers, there will
be "Chez P. I.," on Feb. 25, at
the Davison -branch. A cabaret

Mr. and Mrs. Rubin Shaye
.
Contributions by their chil-
dren to major causes, including
the, Allied Jewish Campaign,
Jewish Theological Seminary,
Technion, City of Hope and
many others, marked the golden
wedding anniversary of Mr. and
Mrs. Rubin Shaye, last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Shaye who were
married in Rumania left on a
second honeymoon, in Miami
Beach. •
Mr. Shaye who came to New
York in 1907, less than two
years after their marriage, was
folloWed to ,this country by his
young wife three years later.
Both now are 73.
Coming to Detroit in 1921,
Mr; Shaye started the Grosse
Pointe .Quality Food Co., of
which he is president.
Both are active in communal
affairs, Mrs. Shaye for years
- having been associated with the
Jewish Women's European Wel-
fare Organization and Mr. Shaye
- taking a leading part in City
of Hope activities. They are
members of Congregation Beth
Moses.
Mr. Shaye is chairman of the
board of the Rubin Shaye
Foundation, a charitable trust.
The Shayes have three sons,
Sol;' Max and Nathan; . a daugh-
ter; Mrs. Pauline Rappaport;
nine "grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.

30 Plus Club Dance
The third anniversary Purim
Dance of the 30 Plus Club of
the Jewish Community Center
will be held Feb. 26, in the
Davison Branch. Carl Sims and
his orchestra will be featured.

branch. Featured booths will
include "Shoot Haman," spon-
sored by the Flashes; "Mysto-
grams," sponsored by the Mys-
tics; and "Hamantashen," cour-
tesy of the Delmonicos. In
addition, the Tween dramatics
club will present a Purim play.

party is Mrs. Fannie Waldfogel.
Co-chairmen include Mesdames
Mildred Litvak, Martha Burn-
stein, Rose Kristall, Fannie
Grober and Sara Sandler. Mrs.
M. Lefkowitz and Mrs. Lea
Rubel are serving as _consul-
tants.
Playschool children will at-
tend a Purim party at the D.
W. Simons branch, 4000 Tuxedo,
this Thursday. Each child will
come in costume. Hamantashen
will be served, and greggers
distributed.
The Center staff will join in
the holiday fun with a party at
the Davison branoh on Feb. 24.
