Aliens Must Register
With U.S. ' in. January

Every alien in the United
States on Jan. 1 must report his
residence address to the Commis-
sioner of Immigration and Natur-
alization during the month of
January.
Reports for aliens under 14
years of age must be made by
parents or legal guardians. Any
alien who is temporarily absent
from the country during the re-
porting period must 'report his
address with 10 days after his re-
turn.
This requirement was first pro-
vided for the Internal Security
Act of 1950 and has been incor-
porated in the Immigration and
Nationality Act which became ef-
fective on Dec. 24, 1952.
It requires that the address re-
port be made every year in Jan-
uary, and further provides that
any alien or his parent or legal
guardian in the United States
who wilfully or inexcusably fails
to report is liable to be taken into
custody and depofted. 'Further-
more, imprisonment or fine may
be levied before deportation.
The annual address report card
(Form 1-53), on which the ad-
dress must be submitted, may be

Post Office or any Immigration
and Naturalization Service Office.
The card must be completely
filled out giving full name, resi-
dence address, Alien Registration
number, date and place of birth,
and the date and port of entry
into the United States. •
When completed and signed,
the card must be handed to a
clerk in any Post Office or Im-
migration a n d Naturalization
Service office. It is not to be
placed in the mail.
Address cards may also be filed*
at any port of entry into the
United States, such as the De-
troit-Canada Tunnel, "Ambassa-
dor Bridge and Port Huron
Bridge, where such facilities are
open 24 hours a day and 365 days
a year.
The only aliens exempted from
submitting the form are Canadian
citizens who are temporarily vis-
iting the United States for less
than six months and citizens of
other countries who are tempo-
rarily in the United, States for
less than. 30 days. .

The twelfth annual installation
ceremony of the Ladies of Mosaic

Terrace, beginning with a cock-
tail hour at 6:30 p.m.
