engagement of Marilyn Dale
Kates, daughter of Mrs. Simon
Kates, of Santa Barbara Dr., and
the late Dr. Kates, to Gerald
Allan Kanter, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Philip Kanter, of Merton
Rd.
Mr. Kanter is a graduate Of
Michigan State University. The
couple is planning an April cere-
mony.

Mrs. Jack Schwartz has been
named chairman of the annual
donor luncheon of the Depart-
ment of s Michigan Ladies Aux-
iliary, Jewish War Veterans, to
be held Nov. 16, at Masonic
Temple.
Entertainment will be in the
form of a .variety show that will
headline comedian Jackie Ka-
hane. Box Maxwell, local radio
and television personality, will
be master of ceremonies.
Working with Mrs. Schwartz
are Mesdames A. Albert Sugar,
coordinator; Walter Fischel and
Leon Weinberger, tickets; Mar-
tin Salinger and Sheldon Alt-
