Minister to Israel
Chosen by Uruguay

here last week in a super market
merger which is expected to put
the combined enterprise among
the top five in the nation.
The action started in August
when the Lurie Brothers an-
nounced a merger of their Wrig-
ley's Supermarkets, Inc., with
ACF Brill. Earlier this month,
Wrigley's merged with Big Bear
Markets, operated by Shaye. And
now, the $100,000,000 operation of
Abner A. Wolf, Inc., has been
added to the list.
In terms of big business, the
mergers, will bring the combined
enterprise to a figure of a half-
billion dollars in about a year.
The Luries have been termed
the pivotal figures upon which
the mergers developed. The two
men borrowed $200 in 1922 to
open their first market.
Management of the new enter-
prise will be vested in the Luries
Irwin I. Cohn, attorney and Wrig-
ley stock holder; Syd Goldman,
former owner of the Humpty
Dumpty Markets, a Brill-owned
'company in Oklahoma; and Nor-
man Hirschfield, an associate -of
Goldman.
