Rosalyn Betty, to Ronald Neal
Kane, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert

Mr. Kane, who was recently

Workmen's Circle will be active
this week, beginning with four
meetings scheduled for this eve-
ning.
Branch 460 will meet at 9 p.m.,
today, in the Circle Center, 11529
Linwood to discuss assessments
for a sick fund and to plan a
benefit games party for Sept. 30.
"History and Development of
the Modern Dance" is the princi-
pal topic of Branch 1060, which
meets at 9 p.m., today, in the
home • of Dr. and Mrs. Zalman
Konikow, 13324 Balfour, Hunt-
ington Woods. .
Harriet Berg, assistant director
of the Wayne University Dance
Workshop, will demonstrate tech-
niques of modern dance and lead
the discussion.
Branch 111 will open fall activ-
ities with a cultural meeting at
9 p.m., today, at the Center. Sam-
uel Sigal, of The Jewish Daily
Forward, w i 11 be principal
speaker.
Yiddish readings by Mrs. Ida
Couzens; . songs by Simon Klec-
sewski; piano selections by Mrs.
Sophie_ Smith; community sing-
ing and refreshments are planned.
The final meeting of the night,
also to be held at 9 p.m., will be
that of Branch 470. Meeting at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Morton
Granat, 16536 Cheyenne, mem-
bers will discuss "This Atomic
Age."
The Circle's Jewish Culture In-
stitute will begin its 15-week
series on Oct. 4, in the Center.
Saul Maltz, school director, and
Eugene Brownstein, chairman of
the E-S Council, announce that
registration may be made by call-
ing the Center, TO. 9-2014.

will hold various "guest-togeth-
ers" during October in an all-
out membership drive, according
to Mrs. Morton Oppenheim, Jr.,
vice president.
The "guest-togethers" will take
the form of games nights, fashion
shows, teas and cocktail parties.
Mothers, wives and sisters of
veterans are eligible to join any
auxiliary of the J.W.V., which
carries on an extensive service
program throughout the year.
Veteran's hospitals, Childrens'
Hospital, anti-aircraft units, the
Detention Home, U.S.O. and D.S.
0. are serviced monthly by this
group.
Membership information can
be obtained by calling Mrs. Op-

phere," said R. Elchanani, a
member of the board of the Tel-
Aviv Chamber of Commerce, at
a meeting of the American-Israel
Chamber of Commerce, in New
York. -
In 1954 alone, the Israeli busi-
nessman said, $74,000,000 worth
of American merchandise was ex-
ported to Israel, comprising both
multi-million groups such as
grains, automobiles and parts and
machinery and a variety of thou-
sands of items.

dinner dance of Home Relief So-

Habonim, the Labor Zionist
youth organization, will open its
yearly program with an oneg
shabbat at 7:30 p.m., today, at its

Young people from 10 to 17

bonim's program of onge shabbat,
Israeli songs and dances, discus-
sion groups and holiday 'celebra-
tions.

Plan Roll Call to Combat
Shortage of Teachers

NEW YORK (JTA) — A Na-
tional Roll Call designed to meet
the mounting needs of Jewish
education in this country has
been launched by the American
Association for Jewish Education,
it was announced by Philip W.
Lown, president of the Associa-
tion.
Reaching out into communities
from coast to coast, the Roll Call
will alert local leadership to its
specific responsibilities in the
area- of Jewish communal work,
and will enlist popular support
for the intensification program
of the Association.
Top priority in this program,
Lown pointed out, concerns an
all-out effort to cope with the
problem of teacher shortage that
has developed in recent years.

Sabbath League Slates
Luncheon on Tuesday

The Women's Sabbath League
will install .its newly-elected of-
ficers at a luncheon meeting at
12:30 p. m., Tuesday in the Young
Israel Center.
