March 26, at Cong. Shaarey
Zedek, Harriet Wolrauch, daugh-
ter of Mrs. Morey Wolrauch, of
Mich., and the late Mr. Morey
Wolrauch, became the bride of
Morton D. Smerling, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Samuel Smerling, of
4109 Clement s. Rabbi A. M.
Hershman and Cantor Leo Ra-
clin officiated.
The bride wore a ballerina
gown of chantilly lace .over taf-
feta, with scalloped lace form-
ing a sweetheart neckline. Her
well was held in place by a
crown of seed pearls, and she
carried white orchids with
streamers of stephanotis.
Mrs. Sheldon Chatlin, the
bride's sister, was matron of
honor, and Caroline Smerling,
sister of the bridegroom, was
maid of honor.
Sol Siegel, the bridegroom's
brother-in-law, - was the best
man. Bernard Breyer and Shel:-
41on Chatlin, brothers-in-law of
the bride, seated the guests.
Following dinner and a re-
ception at Holiday . Manor, the
couple enplaned to New York
for their honeymoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Solomon E. Red-
stone, of 19309 Appoline, an-
nounce the Bar Mitzvah of their
son, Paul Mitchell, on Saturday,
at Beth Aaron Synagogue. A re-
ception in Paul's honor will be
held on the following day, in the
family home.

Detroit Artist to Open
Exhibit at Werbe Gallery

Native Detroit artist John
Bageris will open an exhibition
of 25 paintings and drawings on
Wednesday, at the Anna L..,
Werbe Gallery, 19458 Livernois.
The one-man show will run
thrOugh May 4.
The material on exhibit was
created by Bageris while on a
Fullbright Scholarship in 1953-
-54 in Germany. The works are
not only of Germany but many
other • countries through which
the artist traveled.
Bageris studied at the Chicago
Art Institute School and has
exhibited extensively in Chicago,
including the Art Institute. In
Detroit, he had a show at the
Werbe Gallery in 1953, and has
exhibited his works at the De-
troit Institute of Arts.

The Michigan Coordinating
Council for FEPC, representing
30 religious, fraternal, • civic,
labor, nationality and veteran
groups, announced opposition to
the April 7 amendments made
by the House State Affairs Com-
mittee to the bi-partisan Fair
Employment Practices Bill 24.
The Committee 'amendments
would (1) eliminate the Com-
mission from the law, (2) make
violations of the act a misde-
meanor punishable by a fine
and/or jail sentence, (3) put
the proposal on a referendum
ballot, and (4) extend coverage
to the aged and physically
handicapped.
In a telegram to all members
of the Michigan House of Rep-
resentatives, • the Coordinating
Council protested the amend-
ments which it said would "de-
stroy the education and circula-
tion features which constitute
the heart of good fair employ-
ment practices legislation."
The telegram was .signed,
among others, by Rabbi Morris
Adler.
