Mr. Maurice Cornfield, 'f Marlowe Ave., has returned from
Boca Ratan, Fla., where he was an honored guest at the Metro-
politan Life Insurance Company's Millionaires conference.
Eleanor Keys, of. Mt. Clemens, Mich., sailed yesterday aboard
the 'Mauretania for a 14-day cruise to the West Indies and South
America.
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Pines, of Flint, Mich., will leave on Wednes•
day aboard HMS Queen Mary for England. After a week in Lon-
don and Paris, the Pines will fly to Israel in time to celebrate
Passover and Israel's seventh anniversary.
Mrs. Irene Rosenthal, of Buena Vista Ave., will leave Wednes-
day aboard the Queen Mary for France. She will join Mr. and Mrs.
Isaac Faxstein on their trip to Israel.
Mrs. Regina Stander, of this city, has left on a vacation in
Cuba and Miami Beach, Fla. While in Miami, she will meet her
brothers from Tennessee and other members of her family.
Mr. Leonard Stander, of Detroit, is spending a month at Ber-
narr McFadden's Center in Dansville, N. Y.
At farewell gatherings, prior to their sailing for Israel, Mr. and
Mrs. Isaac M. Faxstein were honored by the Jewish National Fund
Council and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Levine by Arlazaroff Branch of
Farband.
Mr. and Mrs. Jay Wainer, of Northlawn Avenue, have returned
from an extended motor trip through the West, which includad
stops in Phoenix, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and
Mexico.
Dr. and Mrs. Irving T. Rowe and son, Michael, will soon be
residing in their new home on Glastonbury Rd.
Mr. and MrS. Lew C. Fisher, of Oakman Blvd., will honor their
sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Pantzer, on the
latter's 15th wedding anniversary at a surprise party for 200
guests at Moss Catering. Out-of-town guests include Mr. and Mrs.
Jacob Brandies, Dr. and Mrs. Martin Brandies, and Abe Malberg, of
New York, Mr., and Mrs. Sam Goodman, and Mr. and Mrs. A. Fred-
man, of University City, Mo.
Mr. and Mrs. Sol Penn, of Duane Ave., recently honored their
daughter, Helene, with a sweet sixteen dinner-dance at the Elm-
wood Casino, Helene's host was Arnie Mostyn. Among the guests
were Diane Lelgant, Herbie Bernstein, Lillian Lelgant, Buddy
Schiendler, Barbara Leibovich, Bernie Arden, Marilyn Gold, Arnie
Fine, Marion Kent, Warren Wolfe, Natalie Schulman, Larry Sha-
piro, Geana Sherman, Donnie Lakin, Andy Klein, Ernie Eich, Har-
riett Mackie, Loren GrosS, Arlene Sipher, Marry Horowitz, Margo
Emmer, Jerry Kline, Barbara Cohen, Seymore Weinstein, Pearl
Mirkin and Arnie Brunin. Members of the immediate family and
relatives also were present.
Detroiters who participated in the National Jewish Confer-
ence in WaShington last week were Sidney Shevitz, Leon Kay,
Morris Schaver, Boris Joffe and Mr. and Mrs. Philip Slomovitz.
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Moritz, son, Stanley, and mother, Mys.
Rose Kay, of Geneva Ave., Oak Park, Mich., were joined by Mrs.
Hyman Kaber, of Fullerton Ave., • for a motor trip to Miami Beach,
Fla., where they plan to spend the Passover holidays.
Mrs. Benjamin Naimark, of Richton Ave., has returned to De-
troit following an extended visit with her children, Dr. and Mrs.
Martin Naimark and daughters, who- are stationed at Lackland
Air Force Base, San Antonio, Tex. Dr. Naimark expects to resume
practice in Detroit in July of this year.

Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Bieman,

The Biemans five other chil-
dren, Jack Tillie, Mrs. Honey
Brown, Mrs. Beatrice Eder and
Milton, their 14 grandchildren
and relatives and friends will
attend.
' The Biemans, who were mar-
ried March 12, 1905, in Cleve-
land, moved here in the 1920's
when Mr. Bieman entered the
building business. They later
moved to Chicago and moved
back here in the early 1940's.
Mr. Bieman, a wood carver
and furniture designer, is semi-
retired. He recently donated
wooden dolls and toys for a car-
nival sponsored by Women's
American ORT.

Miss Skolsky, Berger
To Entertain at
Stephan Wise Dinner

Two noted stage and television
stars, MiSs Syd Skolsky a n d
Gustave Berger, will entertain
guests at the annual Stephen
Wise Dinner-Dance, to be held
under the auspices of the Wom-
en's Division, American Jewish
Congress, on March 20, at Latin
Quarter.
Mis,s Skolsky will make her
initial appearance in Detroit,
following a recent tour through
the West. Her program consists
of folk music from many lands,
and her performance is of the
one-woman show type.
Berger, a veteran actor who
played in motion pictures such.
as "Johnny Belinda," "The Dyb-
buk" and "The Family Carnov-
sky," is a member of the Yiddish
Art Theater. He is known for
his humorous stories on Jewish
folklore and characterizations.
Dance music throughout the
evening will be furnished by the
Fenby-Carr Orchestra.
The dinner-dance, annual so-
cial function of the local Wom-
en's Congress, headed by Mrs.
Wiliam Burk, raises funds for
the Louise Waterman Wise
Youth Home in Jerusalem, Is-
rael.
Ticket distribution is being ar-

Evergreen Jewish Congrega-
tion will hold late Friday serv-
ices tonight at the home of

conduct and deliver a sermon,
"Why a Synagogue." Israel Idel-
sohn will chant the liturgy.
At the group's next general
meeting on Wednesday at Ever-
green Hall, Evergreen and Cam-
bridge, first nominations of of-
ficers will take place. Leon Kay,
local industrialist and Jewish
leader, will talk on "Zionism and
Israel Today."

the Congregation's Variety Show
on March 27 at Evergreen Hall.

' Schedule Purim Carnival

The Men's Club and Sister-
hood of Adas Shalom Synagogue
will present their annual Purim
Costume Carnival Ball at 8 p.m.,
Sunday, in the synagogue social
hall. Various booths and games
will provide a carnival atmos-
phere.
Harry Spoon, Men's Club pres-
ident, and Mrs. George Liss,
president of the Sisterhood, will
lead the grand march. Judges
will award prizes for the most
original costumes, to be apprais-
ed according to religious theme,
comic and originality.
According to Danny Raskin
and Nathalie Lax, chairmen, re-
freshment stands will be includ-
ed among the booths. The Fen-
by-Carr Orchestra will play for
dancing.
