Canadian Players'
Performance Great,
But Audience Small
John Finlayson's comment in
the Detroit News, in his review
of the Canadian Players' "Saint
Joan," which played to 6. small
house, that "Backer Sol Krim-
and the Canadians deserved a
full house," is being echoed by
all who witnessed the fine per-
formance.
It was poor compensation to
Mr. Krim, the courageous spon-
sor of the play in Detroit. The
audience would have been ade-
quate for the Scottish Rite Ca-
thedral, but too small for the
big auditorium. But the players
were outstanding, Ann Casson
as Joan was magnificent and
those who missed the show are
the losers.
T h e Canadian (Stratford)
Players once again emerged as
a great troupe, and Sol Krim as
a man of vision who knew the
value of the play he sponsored,
although he could not have fore-
seen the small attendance: but
that's the price a producer often
pays for his enthusiasm.
