cupancy in June of this year.

All you have to do is wish
hard enough and dream long
enough and your wishes and
dreams will come true.
That's what any member of
the Detroit Chapter of Hadassah
will tell you, after seeing a wish
of many, many years become an
actuality in the purchase of an
Hadassah House to serve the
needs of the rapidly-growing
Detroit Chapter.
What Hadassah itself would
never do—that is, allocate funds
from its own vital projects to-
ward the building of such an
enterprise—four "Hadassah hus-
bands" have seen fit to become
self-appointed godfathers of the
project.
Theodore Bargman, Israel
Davidson, Bert Smokler and
Frank Wetsman, whose wives
are ardent Hadassah workers,
became a self-appointed com-
mittee, made their own financial
contributions and added to it
equally generous gifts from
other men in the community to
make the Hadassah House a
reality.

Hauser, secretary - treasurer;
Ralph Davidson, Joseph Ehrlich,
Max Frank, William Isenberg,
Morse Saulson, Frank Wetsman,
the four "Hadassah husbands"
and Mr. William Isenberg.
Hadassah members will seek
funds to furnish and equip the
building. A committee is being
organized to work with the
board of trustees. It is expected
that Hadassah's new home will
be ready for occupancy in June.
Since its founding by Henriet-
ta Szold in 1912, Hadassah has
grown to a national membership
of 300,000. About 6,500 of them
now comprise the Detroit Chap-
ter, organized in 1914.
Hadassah has developed a

network of health and social
welfare services, which blanket
Israel. Facilities include seven
hospitals, 108 health centers,
of which 36 are operated in
cooperation with the Israel
government and offer expec-
tant mothers pre-natal and
post-natal care.

The organization is presently
building a new medical center
at Ain Karem, a Jerusalem sub-
urb, which will include a 430-bed
university - connected teaching

ment, new buildings for the He-

tain offices, meeting halls, board
rooms, cooking quarters, a gift
shop and other facilities to be
used by the Detroit Chapter's
17 component groups.
Locating the quarters was the
responsibility of a committee
headed by Mrs. Bert Smokier,
chairman of t h e Hadassah
building committee, who was
appointed by Mrs. William B.
