The Young Adult department
of the Jewish Community Cen-
ter is sponsoring a winter camp ,
week-end for 40 young adults at
Camp Tamarack, in Ortonville,
Mich., f r om Friday evening ,
through Sunday afternoon.
Commencing with a Hanukah
celebration Friday night, there
will be group discussion of the
Tercentenary, a surprise party ,
and outdoor games.
Plans for the week-end were
made by Sarah Johnson, chair-
man; George Vine, Lillian Lewis,
in charge of registration; Arlene
Grocoff, in charge of program;
Laura Levin and Sue Hyams, in
charge of the menu.

munity Council will speak on
Jewish culture in connection
with Jewish Book Month.

THE SAMUEL GREENBAUMS

Mr. and MIS. Samuel Green-
baum, of LaSalle Blvd., will cele-
brate their 50th wedding anni-
versary with a reception to be
held in their honor from 8 to
11 p.m., Sunday, at the home of
their children, Mr. and Mrs. Os-
, car Greenbaum, 17500 Kentucky.

Mr. Greenbaum, 72, came to
Detroit from New York where
he was born and met Hattie
Rosenthal. They were married
Nov. 29, 1904 by Rabbi Judah
Levin, of Detroit.
Members of Temple Beth El,
the Greebaums have partici-
pated in numerous community
activities, among them Perfec-
tion Lodge, F. & A.M. and Purity
Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.
Honoring their parents along
with the Oscar Greenbaums are
Mr. and Mrs. Albert P. Weiss,
I Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Greenbaum,
I Mr. and Mrs. Nathan E. Zigman,
nine grandchildren and one
great grandchild.

Mr. and Mrs. Max Braunstein,
of 2741 Doris, announce the Bar
Mitzvah of their son, Marshall
Irving, on Saturday, at Congre-
gation Beth Moses, 13925 Lin-
wood. Cocktails and dinner in
Marshall's honor will be held the
following evening, December 26,
at Mayfair Room.

Ahavas Achim School
Plans Hanukah Plays

Just in time for Christmas and the New Year.



The annual Hanukah party of
the Ahavas Achim Sun d ay
School will be held at 10 a.m.,
Sunday, in the synagogue. The
blessing of the holiday candles
will be conducted by the lower
grades. .
Featured in the play, "The
Eight Hanukah Candles," will be
second grade pupils, led by their
teacher, Israel Tuchman. An-
other play, "Hanukah Marches
On," will be offered by the fifth
and sixth grades, directed by
Mr. Bernstein.
Other features will be a show-
ing of the movie, "Tent City, '
a cartoon, communal singing led
by Rabbi Hirsch and greetings
by Rabbi Jacob M. Chinitz.
A Hanukah grab bag will be
conducted individually by each
class, and refreshments will be
served by the Sisterhood chil-
dren's party committee, headed
by Mrs. Barney Zatkoff, chair-
man.

Bnai Brith Reaches Third
Of Membership Goal

A citation for good citizenship
will be presented to the Colgate
Comedy Hour by Bnai Brith Wo-
men during a televised perform-
ance of the show at 8 p.m., Sun-
day, over station WWJ-TV, chan-
nel 4. Mrs. Julius Berke, president
of the Chicago Bnai Brith Wo-
men's Council, announced.
Gordon MacRae, master of
ceremonies, will receive the cita-
tion which commends the show
for its fresh humor, freedom
from stereotypes and good in-
fluence upon youth.

Bnai Brith has enrolled 27,405
new members in its current na-
tionwide membership drive, ac-
cording to a joint report issued
by Bernard Roman of Chicago;
national chairman of the Bnai
Brith membership campaign
cabinet, and Mrs. William Rab-
kin of New York, national mem-
bership chairman of the Su-
preme Women's Council.
This total was almost equally
divided between men and wo-
men, the chairmen said. Goal
of the 1954-55 drive, which will
continue through the first half
of 1955, is 80;000 new Members.
