TEL AVIV, (JTA) The winter
season began throughout Israel
with heavy downpours from the
north to the Negev, where even
Elath, an the Gulf of Akaba,
received substantial rainfall.
The rains were particularly
good news for citrus growers,
who must have either a heavy
rain or substantial irrigation for
their trees before the fruit is
picked. Although this season's
crop, which is shortly due to be
gathered, is expected to be
somewhat smaller than last
year's, the higher world price
will probably bring in more for-
eign currency that last year's
record crop. Fruit picking work
is expected to cut the number
of unemployed substantially.

Cong. Emanu-El will hold, its
sabbath eve services at II :15
p.m., today, in Burton School,
Huntington Woods. Leonard Ba- .
zell will deliver the lay sermon-
ette on "Emanu-El." An ones
