Mr. and Mrs. Milton Ribiat, of
Burlingame Ave., announce the
engagement of their daughter,
Beverly Joan, to Sheldon Gilbert,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gil-
bert, of Pontiac, Mich.
Mr. Gilbert is a pharmacy
graduate of Ferris Institute
where he was affiliated with
Kappa Sigma Kappa fraternity.
The bride-elect attends Wayne
University. The couple is plan-
nin a May 29 wedding.

To Pioneer Women's
Fund-Raising Finale

Mrs. Gerson Berris, presi-
dent of the Detroit Council of
Pioneer Women, this week ex-
tended an invitation to • all
members of the community who
have supported its current fund-
raising drive to attend the cul-
minating event at 8:30 p.m.,
Sunday, at Masonic Temple.
Highlighting the program will
be the Ames Brothers, noted
radio and tele-
vision quartette
in a comedy ancl::

Responsible for the success of
the fund raising drive, which
nationally has a goal of $1,500,-
000, are Mesdames Dave Cole-
man, fund-raising vice-presi-
dent; Saul Rose, Moatzot Hap-
oalot chairman; Moe Saslove,
bulletin; Abraham Prima c k ,
con t r i b u t in g organizations;
Frank Wesser, program chair-
man; and Chana Michlin, funds
advisor.

Mrs. Sidney Ravin, president
of t1 Ladies Auxiliary, Jewish
National Fund, announces that
a $50,000 goal has been set for
its annual fund - raising drive.
The money will purchase tree
shelter belts in strategic areas
of Israel's countryside.
Mrs. Ravin pointed out that a
shelter belt is planted "to make
the dessert bloom" by providing
a screen to prevent soil ero-
sion and she pioneering
Jewish settlements thus safe-
guarding the country.

munity are among the new class
officers elected by Detroit In-
stitute of Technology's college of
pharmacy. There are Harvey
Gordon, Mel Oshinsky, Allan
Budman and Erwin Gutenberg.
Gordon, son of Mrs. Lilly Gor-
don, of 19162 Wisconsin, was
chosen president of the junior
class, while Allan Budman; son
of Aaron Budman, of 16230 Ap-
poltine was named junior class
vice-president.
Gutenberg, of 2975 Fullerton,
was elected sophomore vice-
president, and Oshinsky, 2755
Lawrence, was named sopho-

An Atzeret Rosh Hodesh Kis-
lev will be held by the students
of the Hebrew High School of
the United Hebrew Schools this
Sunday, 11 a. m., at the Rose Sit-
tig Cohen Bldg.
Guests at this assembly will
be the students and teachers of
the United Yiddish High School,
which will house its regular
classes every Sunday, beginning
Nov. 28, in the Rose Sittig Co-
hen Bldg.
The chairman of the affair is

cussion of the Sedra of the week
in addition to Margie Weingar-
ten, chairman of the panel, are:
