Thomas Huxley, the renowned
English biologist is credited with
the proposal of the term ag-
nostic at a party in 1869. It
comes from the Greek "agnos-
tos" which means "unknowing"
or • "unknowable." Those who
are agnostics are those who hold
the theory that all being, in-
cluding G-d and the human
soul is unknown or unknowa-
ble, as if to say "I don't know
whether there is a G-d or not"
and claiming that it cannot be
known. These are to be differ-
entiated from atheists who deny
the existence of G-d.
This will be the sixth season
that Arthur Tauber, fencing ex-.
pert, will coach Yeshiva Uni-
versity's fencing squad.
