Nearlk 50 different nationali-
ties will be represented at the
24th annual Old World Market,
which takes over the three-
story International Institute, 111
E. Kirby, from Thursday through
Nov. 21.
Among the booths featured
will be the Israel booth, operated
by Mr. and Mrs. Jules DoneSon,
of Israel Enterprises. Doneson
emphasized that most items will
feature the newest Israeli trend
— ancient motifs along a
modernistic line.
Other items to be exhibited
include hand-made dolls made
in Israel by blind, crippled and
retarded children: gift ware
along a Chinese design, made
by Jews who immigrated to Is-
rael from Shanghai; and ob-
jects of Christian interest made
in Nazareth.
Although last . year was t h e
first in which Israeli goods were
featured. the booth was the third
largest in volumn sales. The Old
World Market was inaugurated
in 1931 to help needy immi-
grants. Today profits help pay
off the mortgage on the Insti-
tute.
Open from 1 to 10 p.m., daily,
the market will exhibit Irish
bagpipers, Chinese singers, danc-
ers from the island of Crete,
fashion shows of many lands
and a coffee shop and Old World
Dining Room, featured foods
from many. nations.
